How Much Would You Spend on a Beauty Device?

I came across something rather shocking today: the TRIA at-home laser hair-removal device, soon to be available in the US, yours for a mere $995! Yowza. Considering the fact that I don't exactly have $1000 burning a hole in my pocket, I don't think I'll be putting my name on the list for one of these. Then again, I did love the Crystalift, and even though $200 is a serious beauty splurge in my book, I'm willing to spring for something if it provides real professional results from the comfort of my home.

What about you? What do you think you would spend on a beauty gadget? Would you save up for months for a miracle product, or do you max out at a certain price point?

i said no more than 200 because i bought the clarisonic brush. so that is my upper limit ... for now

considering that in-shop laser hair removal takes at most 4 appointments at $500 a pop, a $1000 device is a steal not that i would get it. my $10 razor is worth the hassle, in my opinion

Depends, like others have said, on what it does, if it actually WORKS, and how much time I'd be spending running back and forth to the salon otherwise. I'm about to drop a couple hundred on a device because I figured out the cost per treatment is amortized after about three, and that doesn't include tips and time spent running in and out of the spa. But I always have to do the math first. (Thanks for the No!No! tip, though, Stephanie. Clearly it's a No!No!)

I would spend up to $300 (what I paid for my hair dryer), but I wouldn't buy anything to use at home that people have to be trained to use on others (microderm, laser hair removal, etc). I'd rather be safe and pay a professional.

totally depends on what it does and if it works... I mean, if it miraculously makes you gorgeous - I'd pay over $1,000!!

Considering I already spent $250 on that silly No!No! which didn't do a lick of good, I suppose I could just as easily be convinced to spend more.

I would never buy an at home laser hair removal machine. Some things are best left to experts! Perhaps once you get to the $1000 mark, you should think about just scheduling some time with a pro. That said, I spent $200 on the featherweight T3 Tourmaline hair dryer and would never look back. (OK, technically it was a gift, but I would have purchased it eventually!) I got the lightweight one because of my carpal tunnel and I would definitely buy the $300 one that dries even faster! For a girl with thick hair, it's a godsend! It truly does cut the dry time in half, plus it makes my hair shiny and reduces flyaways! It's awesome!

No way!Any laser device should be used by a trained professional. You could apply to mush heat and burned you body parts for $1000.

It really depends on the device, I think, and how much the problem bothers me. I hate body hair, but I don't hate it enough to spend that much on a hair-removal device - I don't mind taking the extra time to shave every day, and while I'll probably spend lots more time and money on shaving over the course of my life than I would on this device, a thousand dollars is a LOT to throw out at once for a glorified razor, even if it lasts a million years. That said, I've been quite tempted by the No!No! at Sephora - available for a fifth of the price! So I guess my limit is about $200 in most cases, although I'm most likely to spend far less...

My flat iron was a couple of hundred dollars. I don't use it much now but when I got it I was going through a hormonal phase or something where my hair was suddenly wavy. Now it's straight again, but I still use it sometimes and I've had it for over 4 years. Very worth it.
