Lady Gaga is making us turn into Coke heads. It's not as sordid as it sounds: Ever since I first saw the "Telephone" video, I've been itching to see just how well her Diet Coke can curlers actually work. Turns out, the process is pretty simple, so Team Bella got together to re-create the look. We're not as discriminating as Gaga, so we used a bunch of different kinds of cans. Twenty minutes later, we had a hairstyle. So to find out how this look actually comes out in real life, and how to do it yourself, keep reading.

Gaga pays homage to many things. Her influences are clear and because she's reviving something that was from years passed does make her somewhat of a trend setter! Originality is so hard to do these days!

My step mom use soup cans in the 60's I saw pictures both ends are open so you can clip the hair on better. They used the sun for heat. They would roll their hair in the morning then lay out all day. Their hair would be perfect for the night out at the honky tonk.

Ha. My friend does this w dry hair, she has really fine hair and this gives it body and keeps it straight. Say what you want about Gaga's fashion sense. It takes talent to make pop can rollers and a biker jacet look cool;)

You look prettier than Lady Gaga. We use to do this in the '60's with small orange juice cans. More wave with those than pop cans. :)

This was so fun to watch - I have pics of my mom and her friends using empty frozen orange juice cylinders to style their hair at slumber parties in the 60's - can't wait for her to see your show!

No need to use coke rollers. Vidal Sassoon just came out with the best rollers ever called Sure Grips. They come in velcro or magnetic and they have a duck bill clip attached right to them so they stay securely in place. I bought mine at CVS and Walreens carries them too!

It goes even further back than the 60's! My mom told me they used soup cans back in the 50's when she was in high school. :) But everything that's old is new again and this is a trend that should never go out of style! Bella you look awesome!

Gaga isn't trendsetting by doing this, she said herself she did it as a tribute to her Mom using coke can curlers in the 70's. And Bella, you look marvelous!

Even though I love Lady Gaga, i must say that she should be credited as a trend setter for the coke can curlers. These been out for a long time and she is not the only singer who has sport coke cans in her hair. Coke and OJ can curlers have been around since at least the 60s, my mom used them back then :) Lady CaCa probably just saw it in the Marie Claire with Ashley(?) Olsen haha... http://bit.ly/aDSy6k

I love that people are so into these now and imagining Gaga as a trendsetter for using them. She's certainly a trendsetter in many ways, but you can open any Seventeen magazine from the mid-90's and see this as a tip.
