How to Wear Red Eye Shadow

Red eye shadow isn't just for clowns and circus acts anymore. In fact, celebrities like Emma Stone and models on the Donna Karan runway have been seen sporting this trend. But how can you wear public without looking like you have an allergic reaction. Easy steps for every complexion in today's how to. Remember, not all reds are created equal so make sure you find the right shade that compliments your skin tone or else you could look like it's made out. To wear red means to be bold. So commit to the shade and go all in. If you have a pink complexion with red undertones like me, look for shades that are almost brown. Think rustic, autumn shade like coppery-pinks and oranges. Start by trying out this palette by Maybelline, and be sure to include an eyeliner and a few coats of mascara so that it still looks like make-up not like you're sick. One trick if you don't have the right shade for this look, is just to combine a burnt orange color with a copper to get the desired shade. If you do have pink undertonesmake sure you put on your concealer and your foundation just to mask any red tint that you may have in your face or else it will bring out all of those red undertones and make you look a little flushed all day long. Darker complexions can really go wild with this look. So colors like brick and fire engine red look best on you because they show up more prominently on your skin. So look for products that have rich pigments in them cherry red and hot pink look good on you too, I know the bright of a red can be really intimidating to wear but there's a easy trick to get a subtle color, use an eyeliner or eye shadow brush. It has to be small. Dip it in water and then place it in your pigment. All you do is take it across your lash line in a straight line and it will give an eyeliner effect, so it looks more like a subtle pop of color instead of like a clown. The key to all of these red eye shadow looks is wearing a think coated mascara and black eyeliner to really define the eye and make sure that you look awake, not like you have an allergy. If you have an olive complexion, or yellow undertones to your skin, pretty much anything in terms of terms of red eye shadow will look good on you, but pinks will make you look the best. Colors like muted rose to bright magenta provide a contrast that pop. Creams and pigments work best with the skin tone, but if you do use a pigment, be careful, because the powder can get on your cheekbones and create a mess.
