Have you ever gotten ready with a girlfriend and watched in amazement how differently your blow-drying styles are? I clip my hair at the top and start by drying the bottom in sections with a round brush and work my way to the crown. I've noticed that some friends flip their heads over and dry their hair with a paddle brush, others tousle their hair using their fingers while moving the hairdryer at warp speed, and some dry their hair in the back first. I stand, but I've seen women sit and even squat. What's your specific blow-drying technique? Inquiring minds want to know.

I recently had my hair blown out in Vegas and the girl used round brushes as she would leave in then grab another and so on...It was a great technique, my hair is very long and the body lasted for days! Does anyone know about this technique or what it's called?

when my hair was long I would flip it over and dry it but now that its short I stand, start with the back and work my way forward.

I clip sections of my hair up and dry each section before moving on to the next. I usually have 6 sections.

I do all of them except starting from the back. I start in the front, move to the back,then focus on the sides, then flip, then back to the front. I'm somewhat OCD. Can ya tell?

I don't blowdry it and if and when I do, usually at the hairdresser's or maybe home every once in a blue moon just use the brush and pull it str8 with the air blowing on it.

Blow drying for me is step one, so my purpose is not to get sleek hair, but volume. Then, I tame it with a straightening iron. 1. I wrap my dripping wet hair in a towel for a couple of minutes, instead of wringing out excess water, because it makes my hair softer to work with. 2. I take the hair that exists between my two temples and put it into a pony tail that hangs in front of my face. I deal with that hair last, because it's the dryest and should have the most opportunity to dry naturally. What's left is the finer strands around your ears and the nape of your neck, a good starting point. 3. Before using the blow dryer, I apply some softening cream. I'm against most heat protecting/straightening balms because they tend to actually dry out my hair. I use Fructis Anti-Frizz Shine Serum, which makes the strands more supple. Using a large round brush, I turn the brush without pulling it completely through the hair, and then curling it back up a couple of times, to get bouncy waves. 4. When I'm finished with the lower most hair, I pull out the next layer of hair from the ponytail, and repeat Step 3, until all the hair is blow dryed. 5. Apply a finishing cream (I love Fekkai), whether or not you use a straightening iron, to give your strands more definition and tame the shape. If your blow dryer has a blow "cold" option, blowing lightly over the hair on low after you're done lets the cuticles close, retaining the moisture and preventing your hair from frizzing later on. This process sounds time consuming, but if you become comfortable with it, it's a 15 minute process with shoulder length hair.

hmm...it all depends on the length of my hair at the moment but i always twist my hair up in a towel and let the towel soak up all the water for a while (i've fallen alseep with the towel twist and it ruins my hair drying routine) and i alway have my trusty round brush.When i have short hair i use a round brush for maximum volumization-ness, when i have shoulder length hair with layers, i section off my hair and use a round brush starting at the back and working around my head, for my long hair now, i flip my hair upside down, flip back up, side part my hair, and then use my round brush to smooth everything out...finishing of with my lovely straightener

I never blow-dry. I shower before bed, and towel-dry and comb the tangles out then. In the morning I get dressed, give the hair quick brush and check that my part is straight, and then walk out the door. My whole morning routine takes about 15 minutes.

i am naturall curly, so i put a little bit of gel on my hair and two minutes with my head down with phon and stop..then let them free! :)

It really depends. Because i have curly hair, so when i want it curly i flip my head. BUt when i am going to straighten in i stand up straight and basically end up doing it in sections...

You know what's funny? I blow dry my hair at least 4 times a week and yet I can't figure out what my blow dry style is. I wonder if I just mindlessly block the experience out all together...

i usually let my hair air dry and later go over it with a hairdryer+round-brush/flatiron. not only does it save me time (and arm strain), it saves my hair from being to damaged!

I try to flip my hair upside down for as long as possible so I can get the under-layers, but my hair is thick, semi-long, and crazy! My hair stylist put it this way "your hair kind of likes to do your own thing, doesn't it?" and she was putting it nicely! My hair isn't straight or curly and I would let it air dry,, but I have to go school early in the morning and don't want my hair to freeze, becuz then it cracks and is not good. So I blow dry, or try to, and then straighten it. When I blow dry, I have a tall mirror but I either sit on my knees or bend over while sitting on my bedside table. It works, so I can't complain too much!

My hair is naturally straight (Asian), so I blow it dry using just my fingers first, and get it about 50% dry. Then I use a round brush in sections. When it's all dry, I finish getting ready, then I put a smoothing serum on, by Rusk, and then flat iron....I know...it's straight already...but the flat iron really makes it smooth and takes down the "bulkiness" and putting the serum on BEFORE protects the hair.

I'm always seated, since it sometimes takes longer than I would like, and my arms sometimes get tired, so I lean on my desk. I usually start at the top, right in front, until I can see that the dryer is working evenly. Since my hair is relatively short (about 6 inches), I can usually tell pretty quickly). After that, I go all around my hairline, then to back to the top and dry downward in a circle, until my whole head is dry. Then I turn the dryer on cold, and blow away any hair that's landed on my desk. Weird, I know, but it's cheaper than compressed air. :D

I set my blow dryer on cool, point the nozzle downwards and blow dry from root to tips in order to close my hair cuticles. I start from hair framing my face and then progress to the back of my head.

I only wish I could flip my head over and blow dry my hair that way. But I have very curly hair and if I want it straight I have to section my hair in small sections and dry it with a round brush and then flat iron it. Very long process. And I hate to leave it curly because I get very bad knots.

I alternate between having my head flipped over and just standing normally. Always tousling with the fingers. :]
