Bling-Bling Wedding Nail Art to Match Your Indie Engagement Ring

For beauty girls, choosing a wedding manicure may be as big a deal as picking out the perfect ring. And just as not all ladies want the same halo- or cushion-cut rock, many opt for a nontraditional nail art look as well. That's why it makes total sense that Anna Sheffield, aka the queen of unexpected engagement jewelry (think black diamonds and champagne stones in art deco or vintage-inspired settings), would dream up a way to offer out-of-the-box nail ideas. Recently, she partnered with Marie Nails, a downtown NYC salon, to create five custom gel manicures that lend a nod to her designs.

"It seemed like such a symbiotic collaboration — in that nails and jewelry are so similarly decorative," Sheffield told us. "And what Marie Nails has done with gels has elevated the manicure to an absolute art form. I jumped at the chance to work with them."

She went on to explain how the nail art looks are inspired by her jewels. "As a motif, I love tone on tone, especially when mixing gold and diamond colors," she noted. "I use that design element frequently in my jewelry with champagne diamonds and rose gold, which is why we paired gold glitter with the pale pink polish. Marie Nails and I worked on incorporating defining elements like these into each of the five manicures. I loved seeing the finished nail art paired with our jewelry; I feel that they complement each other beautifully." We agree!

Though Marie Nails has 19 locations throughout the world (including Tokyo and Los Angeles), the Anna Sheffield looks will only be available through Dec. 14 at Marie Nails in two NYC spots — SoHo and Nolita — for $65.
