Even if you never took an art history class, you've likely heard about the pointillism technique. Painters like Georges Seurat and Vincent Van Gogh would create entire works of art by applying thousands of tiny paint dots onto a canvas. It seems tattoo master and makeup-lover Kat Von D was inspired by this method of artistry, because she just shared an incredible pointillism beauty tutorial to her YouTube channel. It is completely entrancing — she used a cotton swab, eight shades of foundation, and multiple eye liner and lip hues to create a perfectly dimensional complexion.

We wish that Kat had posted this video earlier! The look is a more elegant, wearable version of the pop art makeup technique you may have used for Halloween, and we would have loved to walk around like this on Oct. 31. But it's never too early to start planning your next costume, right?
