Kate Hudson arrived at the 2008 BAFTA Awards in London wearing a stunning gold sequin gown. Her dress choice was apropos for her new movie, Fool's Gold, which is currently ranked #1 at the box office. (Go Matt and Kate!) Her makeup was soft and fairly natural—just like her simple single braid. What do you think of this red-carpet hairstyle?

That braid was to keep her hair from getting unruly. One needs to remember that Kate has naturally curly hair. I suspect her hair was braided to stop it from frizzing up. London is rainy and she was walking a red carpet in the elements. Had she tried to blow out her curls... they would have frizzed up like crazy.

In this case, a plain braid works well. It fits her personality and since the dress is busy a fancy hairdo would have been too much. Plus a braided bun would be too sci-fi with that dress.

I love it. Makes me wonder why we don't see more braids on the red carpet. And makes me wish I were better at braiding my hair.

A bun? How dull! You people who suggested that have got to be kidding! The braid is very original and keeping with Kate's fun personality. Anyone can wear a bun...Kate likes to be more of a trend-setter, and with all her recent promotional appearances she is wise to throw in a little variety. The braid is just adorable!

Omg davisdavis... I totally thought she was chanelling some Jane Seymour too! The dress and make-up look so elegant.. something about the braid (not the bangs.. those a nice) that just doesn't match up.
