Perhaps the favorite to win Best Actress for her role in The Reader, Kate Winslet arrived at tonight's Oscars looking ready for a win. She went classic with her hair pulled back in a style that is stolen straight from the golden years of yore. She went just as timeless with her makeup look. Her brows are stark, but she's softened the look with her ombre-shadowed eyes, pink pinched cheeks, and darker-hued lips. What do you think of Kate's overall style? Is this her year both onstage and off?

I can´t really comment on the hair yet as I haven´t seen it from the back but the make-up is flawless...but really she could have showed up looking like a clown and I still would have loved her, just because it´s Kate Winslet...

Jay (Emanuel?) from America's NTM commented on the hairstyle saying that it was 'futuristic' rather than classical. And I agree. But whatever it is, I love it.

Not everyone could pull off that hairstyle. She looks classic and beautiful.

She looks a bit harsh to me. The eyeshadow isn't even, and she looks like she's sneering. Pulling the hair back only serves to enhance the severity of her look. I do like the earrings and lipcolor, though.

She looks so pretty, as always. I love the makeup, and I like her hair too. The dress was pretty too, but I think that she usually wears prettier ones.
