Because I have been so busy with school, work and stuff going on back home, I have not been able to just relax and watch television — until last night. I missed the Tine Fey/Justin Bieber epi but I could use less J Bieb in my life so I'm not going to watch it online. I did watch last night's show with Ryan Phillippe and Ke$ha, hence the title of this entry. I was not disappointed. I'm so glad SNL is back on the right track again.
Promoting MacGruber, Ryan Phillippe (ex-hubby to Reese Witherspoon) hosted with musical guest, and Gaga wannabe, Ke$ha. Now, let's recap.
Cold Open — I did not give my full attention to this part because I was doing some last minute stuff online. However, I saw Kristen Wiig playing Bjork, and that's always, well, cute. Fred Armisen plays Larry King as well. I'm going to go ahead and compliment how great this cast is, although I still do not care much for Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate.
Opening Credits — I just want to take the time and say how much I like the credits this year. I like new, and I like change. Good job Lorne Michaels or whoever had a say in this.
Monologue — Of course, there was a mention of MacGruber. That led to my favorite Kristen Wiig character — Target Lady (pronounced Terrget). Curious about when their characters' movies would be coming out (MacGruber is an SNL skit and character in case you have been hiding under a rock for the past couple of years), Andy Samberg's D in a B character joined Target Lady and so did Diandre Cole (aka Kenan Thompson). I love the "What Up Wit Dat" skits btw, this is my favorite Kenan — along with Reba of course. Anyways, good mono.

Ke$ha hasn't been a demure one so far, and tonight it was no different, with feathers in her just-out-of-bed hair, an intricate pattern in glitter over one eye, and plenty of eyeliner and shadows. She obviously loves this look, but do you?

Ke$ha has two songs at the top of the charts right now, and last night she looked like she'd been celebrating pretty hard. She wore big, loose pieces of tinsel in her hair, rhinestones and glitter on one of her eyes, loads of eye makeup, even more glitz on her chest, and her name written in magic marker right beneath her collar bone. She complemented all her shiny stuff with picked-off black polish and rocker-chic hair. Obviously, the girl wants to be scintillating. But do you think this look was a sparkling triumph, or did it just fizzle?
