Like Kristen, I, too, have embraced my silver hair, and it's now become almost a trademark. I do appreciate, however, that it doesn't always work for everyone. We each have to do what's best for us. I write about it in my book, Gracefully - Looking & Being Your Best at Any Age.

love the hair, not crazy about it on her - not enough contrast between her own skin tone and the color of her hair, she needs more color in her face. I just recently took the plunge and let my hair go naturally grey. I have never been so happy with the results, and quite frankly have never received more compliments on my hair than I do now. The difference for me has been when going from the dark brown of my youth to my natural grey allowed me to play up the color of my dark blue eyes. Framed by my grey hair, my still naturally dark brows and, my olive skin tone - makes those baby blues center stage. Wish I would have done it years ago.

I remember when I 12 or 13 I was in a salon getting my hair done and I saw this older lady with gray hair and I loved it. I would go every chance I could just to see her gray hair. The thing is if you take care of hair and find a style that fits you then gray hair is no problem. When I get older I would want to have my gray because it represent my age and me as a women. "You are as old as you feel"

I'm in my mid-40's and my hair is dark brown with white strands. I wish I could call them "gray". I don't color my hair because every time I have it colored at a salon, the salon goes out of business or the colorist leaves! I just accepts my hair as it is. :) Back on topic, I actually think she looks strong. I just wish my body looked as good as hers.

I don't care about when I turn grey, I'm blonde so it won't be too much of a difference. As long as my hair's healthy I don't really care.

Gray hair makes me feel like barfing. Seriously. It's the same way I feel when find hair in my food. Obviously an issue since I am coloring my hair to cover gray these days.....

If that is how her gray naturally grew in, she is so lucky. It has that silver look to it. I still have minimal gray but it is dull as dishwater, which is my problem with the whole thing. Like someone above said, I want to embrace it, but mine is just ugly so far. I don't like any brunette dye jobs I've gotten, and I've tried plenty of mega high-end salons, but at this stage it is the lesser of two evils. As for Kristen, I have always thought she looked washed out (IMO it's her eyes and the lack of makeup) but perfectly dramatic for avant-garde modeling. Bottom line: Kudos to Vogue for featuring a gray-haired model. Two thumbs up!

McMenamy is a stunning model and I actually prefer her current look than when she was younger. The gray hair, IMO, simply works for her and gives her a unique edge over the others. I am not quite sure what I will do when my hair begins to switch over to gray or white. Most likely I will first work with a colorist on a natural blends of highlights and color than as a bit of time passes, I would hope to finally shed the hair-dye and embrace the change. Though it would be accompanied by a great haircut otherwise it would be extremely aging. If a few highlights were needed to brighten up the gray/bring lightness to the facial frame, I would be okay with that but my goal would be to just do my best to rock the h*ll out of the new gray shade.

I've always said I can't wait for my hair to go gray or white. I'm still so young, so it's faaaaarr off for me, but by the time I'm in my mid 40's, why would I even bother coloring my hair? It just seems silly how people are ashamed of their age and have to hide it with dye until they're 80.

Pistil, why do you think long hair is aging? I am genuinely curious about this... Personally, I think long hair is beautiful on anyone - provided it's not thin or stringy. I have always been puzzled by the whole idea that you can't wear your hair long after a certain age. Doesn't having short, white, grandma hair make you look older than having a longer style?

Err... the color is pretty cool, but the lenght, and the style, mixed with the color... makes it look like a dead person. Like that scene out of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

I don't feel her hair is gray as much as it is a true platinum.... which is a trend like Pink does her hair and that makeup artist on America's Next Top Model. I think Kate Moss did the same thing.

Ewwww, I think it looks dingy, the grey just does nothing for her skin tone. It really makes her look OLD! She seems to have a somewhat youthful face, if she were to color her hair it would certainly help her regain a youthful appearance.
