Lauren Conrad's Fashion Week Show Makeup Is Perfect Enough For Real Life

Ask any beauty girl if she's obsessed with Lauren Conrad and you'll likely get a squeal in response. Whether we're pining over her Pinterest or trying to DIY her cat eye, we all have to admit: the reality-star-turned-entrepreneur has got style game. So when we heard she was showing her eponymous Kohl's line at New York Fashion Week for the first time ever, we knew we had to get the backstage scoop.

Since LC is such a good BFF, she's loyal to her personal glam squad, so she tapped hairstylist Kristin Ess and makeup artist Amy Nadine to lead the looks for her show. Lauren told E! that she wanted the beauty to be "very romantic . . . [a] soft feel. Not too polished, not too pristine."

Keep reading for our exclusive interview with Nadine on what inspired the beauty for her show, how you can re-create it at home, and what it's like to work with Lauren!

POPSUGAR: What did Lauren tell you she wanted her inspiration to be? What was your process with creating it?

Amy Nadine: Lauren was incredibly trusting and let me come up with a few looks to present to her. I got a good feel for the collection when we shot the campaign and again when we shot models wearing everything for the website. One night, I was watching Pride and Prejudice (the Keira Knightley/Rosamund Pike version), and it hit me that I wanted the makeup to be a nod to the Age of the Innocence and the Romantic Era. Everything soft and feminine with no hard lines. I put together an inspiration board and Lauren loved it. Then we had our makeup test Monday night and fine-tuned everything until we were both in love with the look.

PS: What are one or two tricks real women at home can do to re-create this look?

AN: Skip eyeliner. Pick soft colors like rose gold and champagne. Since the eye is warm, pair it with a cool lip like we did in a mauve-y pink. Really highlight the inner corners of the eyes and above the cheekbone with a cream highlighter. Don't over draw in the brow. Go for a softer, more feathered look by leaving the beginning part bare and brushed upward.

PS: What are the steps to DIY this look?

AN: To re-create this look at home, sweep a magenta shade in the crease and a matte, off-white shade on the lid, making sure to blend well. Trace a taupe/copper shade along the bottom lashline with a smudge brush. Really highlight the inner corners of the eyes and above the cheekbone with a cream highlighter. Don't overfill in the brow. Go for a softer, more feathered look by leaving the beginning part bare and brushing upward. Blot the mascara wand with tissue before applying it for clump-free wispy lashes. Since the eye is warm, pair it with a cool lip like I did in a mauve-y pink.

PS: What is the best part about being in Lauren Conrad's glam squad?

AN: Lauren is a dream client for me. She is one of the sweetest and most supportive women I know and I pinch myself whenever we work together! The best part would probably be the girlie time we spend together in the makeup trailer, catching up on our hubbies and funny things that have happened to us.
