Every time I hit Sephora, I gaze longingly at Nars Tokaido Express nail polish ($16). It's a deep, sophisticated purple with subtle gold flecks that a cool girl like Kim Gordon might wear if she were invited to a fancy-pants brunch. If you're looking for a similar shade at a smaller price, you're in luck. I've found a drugstore dupe that's pretty close to this shade. To hop aboard that train, just keep reading.
To raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, L'Oréal created a limited-edition nail polish called Hopeful Plum. I spotted it for about $5 at Walgreens, and while it does lean more toward red than the cool tones of the Nars polish, it's close enough to give you the overall look . . . while leaving enough cash for a tasty brunch, too.

This color looks awesome. I so want to get, but I just bought about 10 new colors in the last 2 weeks, bringing my total to about 50 bottles. I think I might have to pick it up anyway.
1i have and use the nars nail polish and it's a great color!! it's a deep purple color with hints of goldish flecks and i love it.
although i love nars nail polish, it is on the steep price. i also picked up nars orgasm and i had high hopes for that color, but it didn't quite live up to it's expectations.
2Also try Sally Hansen insta-dry Pronto Plum two layers and it's a really nice dark eggplant...I love it!
