MAC's latest makeup collection, Neo Sci-Fi, is likely to be polarizing. Some people love the bold shock of orange packaging, while others think the splash of color is too much. Personally, I like the unusual packaging because it feels summery and fresh. Plus, it reminds me of Uhura from Star Trek.
What's interesting about this collection is that although the containers are bold and bright, almost all of the colors are on the neutral side. There's a lot of frost and shimmer, though, so it's not for wallflowers. If you're usually a Bobbi Brown kind of girl, think of this as a way to turn the natural look into something a little more flashy. I'm so glad to see the return of Soft & Slow Lipglass ($14), which is a great medium plum with just a few flecks of gold. Fab liked it on my lips so much that she went to buy it for herself, only to find out that it was limited-edition — so this is going to make her day.

Wow, it looks fun. Can't wait to try it!
1I need to check this out, the shadows looks amazing.
2I was just at my Pro Store this past weekend but I'm really excited about some of the products in this collection, so I might have to journey back out there!
3I can see this being my next haul! Love the orange packaging. I am eyeing the blue nail color, lipsticks and eyeshadows.
4I'm not sure on this one...I'm not really feeling most of those shades. I'll have to see it in person. Like the nail polishes though.
I haven't been very into MAC lately...I liked it more when I was younger.
5Oooo yes I'm sooo going there this Saturday!
6MACMACMACMACMAC. That said... the shades are too neutral for me. I already own a bunch of similar colors that AREN'T limited edition so I don't have to worry about never being able to buy it again. I do like the blue and yellow nailpolishes though.
7Oh I love this!
8I can't wait to check it out!!
LOL I'm a Mirarrie!
9Love MAC, Love the packaging, but these colors are a little too neutral - they should have put bright teals and magenta in the orange to really make it pop!
10I really want the Lipglass in Pink Grapefruit. That color looks amazing!
11I really love this collection - it's exactly the sort of daring neutrals that I like to play with! The colors are all gorgeous!
12I hate the orange packaging. It makes me think of someone who applied way too much fake tanner and I also don't really like orange. I would probably check some of the lipsticks and eye shadows though.
13Ooo, ooo, ooo! FREE STANDARD SHIPPING on maccosmetics.com right now!! Just placed my order, thanks Bella.
14the earth/neutral colors are not me,
15but does nail polishes, are a must,
i want them NOW! hahaha..........
Bella!! You forgot about the Solar Field Collection.
16The "solar bits" and "bronzers" are amazing!!!
I just stopped into Nordstrom to check them out.
I have to wait until payday - but those suckers are mine!!!
Oh and I want Femme-Fi eyeshadow too.
The shadows look cool
17Darn no buy!
18I finally got to my local standalone store yesterday: The packaging is absolutely blinding, DD and I spotted it from yards away!
Because they moved the release date up by a week, my store has not received everything yet.
FYI, I have read that the fallout from the Solar Bits makes them difficult to work with.
The Spaced Out blush is a pretty color, but has a weird shimmer, be sure to swatch it in the store and check it from different angles. The online swatches I have seen haven't captured that characteristic.
The chrome yellow nail polish is pretty in the sunlight, but looks a bit jaundiced indoors. However, we are people of the pale persuasion, so YMMV.
19It sounds nice, but I'm 30 and even in my twenties I was weary of wearing shimmer on the lips. It reminds me of the '80's, which I see are back. Anyway is it sheer, if not it will only make me look older. Maybe it's something for the 20's girls to enjoy?
20Tokyosugar: I'm, er, "older" than you.
21I'm also a bit careful about shimmery stuff. In my (hopefully tasteful) opinion, some shimmer is okay, I'm just wary of glittery stuff. IMO a *little* bit of sheen just lightens my face and opens up my eyes. For instance, look at the Dior Earth Reflections quint. It's shimmery--pictures don't do it justice--but very nice. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P209417&shouldPaginate=tr...
Let me edit myself: the Dior is not so much "shimmery", it might be better to say it has a lovely "sheen". No visible glitter or pearly bits, just a nice even, subdued glow.
