Welcome back to BellaSugar's detailed look at makeup brushes. Today's installment: Fantastic Fan Brushes. (To read the other installments, click here) Fan brushes are necessary when you want to pick up just the right amount of powder on your skin for dusting and blending purposes. The handle should be sturdy and the bristles should be shed free.

It's best to find a fan brush made from natural hair, or at least try your best to find one that is a blend of natural and synthetic hair. The goal is to find something super soft and luxurious on your skin. Here are a few of my favorite fan brushes:

Shu Uemera's Natural Brush 7.5EX ... kinda reads like it says "SEX" when you look at it quickly, doesn't it! This natural brush is meant for powder and liquid face color usage. This baby is also one of InStyle's Best Beauty Buys. Buy it here for $43.

Smashbox's Fan Brush #22 is a feather-weight, soft tool that gently lifts away anything that fell from your eyes and cheeks during your makeup application. It is also meant to sweep soft color on to your cheeks (but clean it off before you dust fallen eye shadows onto your face). Buy it here for $18.

Becca's Bronzer Shimmer Fan Brush 39 is a super-fine, fan shaped brush made from raccoon hair. It's shaped for soft and light dustings of shimmery and bronzers on the face and body. Buy it here for $35.

Paula Dorf's Bronzing Fan is made from extra soft, synthetic fibers so it's very gentle on your skin. Each of her brushes have been hand-cut and hand-shaped to grab just the right amount of powder color to give you a very natural and lightweight looking glow. Buy it here for $28.
