Makeup Review: Benefit Some Kind-A Gorgeous

First of all, let me say: I am not usually a foundation-plus-powder person. Usually, I like my foundation, and I like my powder, and never the twain shall meet. That is, until I discovered Benefit Cosmetics Some Kind-A Gorgeous ($26), which I bought only because of its adorable 1950s record-player packaging. I mean, look how cute it is!

Fortunately, it also turns out I like this stuff a lot. Though it has a creamy texture, it's oil free, and it works a lot like pressed powder in de-shining my face. But it also has a foundation-like effect that smooths out my skin tone, so it's a good way to touch up my makeup on the go.

Oddly, this product comes in just one shade, like a one-shade-fits-all kind of thing. I can't speak for everyone, but the color does work well for me. If you've tried Some Kinda-A Gorgeous, tell me what you think.

actually I tought this product completely sucked. It was used up way to fast for $26. I think i'll stick to my $2 wet and wild foundation. :(

i reallly want to try this! i've never used any foundation before. because im 18 and i don't think that young skin needs a foundation. i don't use makeup on a daily basis either. but, since i'm getting older i want to try new stuff! i don't wanna be a moisturizer-and-lipgloss-girl anymore lol. some say it goes really well with benefit that gal primer! gotta try them ! :D

I recently ordered this product, and I love it! I've found that if you pair it with Benefit's Dr. Feelgood, you'll have no shine, and a completely natural look. I'm becoming addicted to the Benefit brand. I've been extremely satisfied with everything i've purchased from them, and i'm getting more and more compliments on my skin every day.

I just bought this (on my lunch break) today. I had a sample and loved it, so I had to buy the full sized one. I always had trouble finding a color of foundation that didnt look completely fake on me and this stuff actually looks natural. I have a ton of freckles so its difficult to get a foundation to not look bad. This stuff is awesome.

don't worry hannah, it really does match all skin tones! i was really apprehensive at first but when i tried it, i realllyyy liked it. and if you don't like it, you can always return it!

I wanted to try this stuff so bad because of its vintage 50s look, but now that you tell me it only comes in one shade, I don't want to try it anymore. I have really fair skin and I can tell that wouldn't look good on me.

I also use this with You Rebel. I really liked it, but it seems like it just gets used up so fast! There really isn't much product in there, so it wasn't terribly practical for me to use every day. I love Benefit Play Sticks. You can use as much or as little as you like to create your desired effect.

I use this stuff and it's great, it matches my skin and looks completely natural. I have oily skin too and thought this might be a problem, but it's not at all. Although I do put a bit of bronzer and powder over the top of it. It's great for everyday.

I'm a Benefit Beauty Artist in the Chicago area and people LOVE this stuff! The product looks very creamy, but when you apply it, BAM!, it's suddenly a powder. The product contains silica which helps to make skin look air brushed. It's so sheer anyone can wear it. For more color, apply a couple more layers. It'll STILL feel like you're not wearing foundation. That's why we call it a "foundation faker". Try it! You'll love it!

This stuff felt great and really smoothed out my skin. However, my skin is quite dark and it actually turned out maybe a shade or two too light. However, for most people who aren't very tan, I think this would work fine.

I just got this stuff two weeks ago...I was really skeptical, because I'm soo pale & "one shade" stuff freaks me out & never looks good. It's PERFECT for my skin right now, while I'm pale, but using Dove Energy Glow & it's still going to be great when I get more tan later this summer. I love that it gives enough coverage but is still sheer enough that my freckles show.

I'm not sure about the outside, but the inside looks simple and chic. sometimes when the outside is so decorated, especially for foundations it seems like a kid's product...I like my foundations sleek and clean.

love this stuff. i use it everyday under You Rebel from Benefit. I realize some Kinda-a Gorgeous is mixutre of you Rebel and another benefit product, but I use this more of a concealer and smootherer-outer.

I'm pale (Mac NC 15) and it works on me...I apply it for a bit more coverage over tinted moisturizer and blend, blend, blend.

I haven't had good luck with powder finish creams in the past. It tends to look flakey in my T zone.

I bought this at Sephora last September in New York. I'm really pale, and this transitions well when I go from pale to slightly less pale in the warmer months. The texture is really silky and is great for minimal coverage, which is what I need--just enough to even my skin tone. I've found it can make my face a *little* shiny, and I don't have oily skin, but a dab of powder fixes that. Love, this--and I need to buy more--I'm using a brush to get the rest around the edges!
