Beauty companies rarely get wrapped up in budget politics, but one independent brand is using the economy as a talking point. San Francisco-based Makeup Gourmet has announced that from here on out, it will stock only beauty products made in the US. "We cannot rely on nor expect Congress to solve this current economic dilemma," says founder and longtime makeup artist Chris Scott. "Change will only happen when businesses and consumers put their money where their heart is. Makeup Gourmet is committed to making that difference." Along with stocking only made-in-the-States stuff, Scott's company makes its own line of cosmetics in a studio just 20 miles from the boutique. So if you're big on brand-new makeup, supporting local economies, and shopping online, now you know where to go.
