Marion Cotillard Jumps On the Orange Shadow Train

At last night's NY premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, Marion Cotillard debuted neon orange lids that demand a double take.

At last night's NY premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, Marion Cotillard debuted neon orange lids that demand a double take. This notoriously difficult trend to pull off first started popping up in the Spring when Pantone declared tangerine their color of the year. The French beauty pulled together her orange eyes with an otherwise neutral makeup palette: a soft rosy cheek, light pink glossy lips, and a few swipes of eyeliner. To pull off the look, keep the inner corners of your eyes light. We like Nars Ramatuelle Eye Trio ($45) because it pairs an apricot color with a pale peach. Start with the peach on the inner corner of your lid and brush it to the beginning of your lash line. Swipe the apricot from where you left off to the outer corner, blend the colors where they meet, and you'll have eyes that could stop traffic.

Get Ashley Greene's Plum-Perfect Smoky Eye Makeup Look

Ashley Greene wore a natural-toned makeup look at the Young Hollywood Awards last night, but it was a pop of purple on the lids that provided a fresh, perfect-for-Summer feel.

Ashley Greene wore a natural-toned makeup look at the Young Hollywood Awards last night, but it was a pop of purple on the lids that provided a fresh, perfect-for-Summer feel. "I wanted to create a soft, smoky eye, to offset Ashley's gorgeous black bustier and slim pants," said celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali.

To do this, Scali applied a bronze base on Ashley's lids and just underneath the lashes. Then, to make her blue eyes pop, Scali added a dab of plum shadow (the purple hue from Mark's nine-shade On the Dot Color Compact ($16) on the lids as a highlight. The look was finished with black liner on top and bottom lashes and multiple coats of mascara.

Why You'll Want to Keep a Hot Pink Lipstick in Your Beauty Stash

Last night at the Whitney Art Party, Kate Bosworth's natural beauty shone through with a low-profile look that featured a pretty petal pink lip color.

Last night at the Whitney Art Party, Kate Bosworth's natural beauty shone through with a low-profile look that featured a pretty petal pink lip color. "The inspiration for Kate's look was clean with a note of sexy," makeup artist Molly Stern said. "We wanted her vibe to be effortless with a hint of cool." And surprisingly, a hot pink lipstick was used to create Kate's subtle shade.

First, Stern applied Nars Lipstick in Tzigane ($24) as a base, and then the café au lait hue was blended with a hot pink tone, Victoria's Secret Sheer Lip Color Duo in Berry ($15). The combination created a soft rose color with a hint of gloss and provided just enough brightness without taking it to extremes.

Your Go-To Shadow/Lip Color Combination For Spring

Red and gold may be the colors of the San Francisco 49ers, but when used outside of the sports arena, the rich, vibrant hues make for a glamorous pairing makeup-wise.

Red and gold may be the colors of the San Francisco 49ers, but when used outside of the sports arena, the rich, vibrant hues make for a glamorous pairing makeup-wise. And for True Blood's fifth season premiere in LA, actress Deborah Ann Woll proved just how sharp a combination the warm-toned shades can be.

Makeup artist Kayleen McAdams (who has worked with stars such as Lily Collins, Sofia Vergara, and Rachel McAdams) opted to complement Deborah's geometric, black and white dress with a creamy raspberry lipstick and soft eye makeup. To get the look, McAdams used Benefit Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit ($19) as a base, followed by Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Silvered Topaz ($75) in the crease. Eyes were then lined with a taupe pencil, and lashes topped off with black mascara. To finish, lips were lined with MAC Lip Pencil in Beet ($14) under Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Cosmic Raspberry ($23), for a pop of color and texture.

Cameron Diaz dressed with flirtatious flair in a Catwoman-esque pantsuit at yesterday's UK premiere of What to Expect When You're Expecting. And makeup artist Emma Lovell topped off her ensemble with a cat-eye look filled with feminine charm. "The makeup was designed to complement Cameron's cream Stella McCartney jumpsuit, her choppy blond bob, and her dramatic earrings," Lovell said. "I wanted a cute feline eye to be the main attraction, keeping the lips pretty and fresh with a plum stain."

To do this, Lovell used the Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy ($38) to create a glistening neutral eye. She started by applying the sheer shimmering shade on the lids, followed by the bronze tone in the creases and on top of the lash lines. For definition, Lovell then applied Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner ($32). "I started with a very thin line at the inner corner of the eye and made it thicker as I went along, kicking it out for a subtle kitten eye," Lovell explained. "After the liquid liner, I went back along the line with the deep copper shadow to soften it — it's not so retro that way." Finish off with mascara and a set of full falsies (a woman's version of cat whiskers).

Try Emily Blunt's Hot-Pink Lipstick Trick

Hot-pink lipstick has often gotten a bum rap thanks to its more garish 1980s roots.

Hot-pink lipstick has often gotten a bum rap thanks to its more garish 1980s roots. But for Emily Blunt at the premiere of The Five-Year Engagement, her hot pink — CoverGirl's Lip Perfection Lipstick in Spellbound ($7), a bright, creamy fuchsia — was hotter than hot.

Part of the reason the palette worked so well is that makeup artist Jenn Streicher kept Emily's eyes and cheeks simply elegant, opting for a clean-skin palette to begin with, starting with Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum as a base, followed by Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Finish Foundation. But another reason the palette worked so well is all thanks to the science of color. Pink (as seen on Emily's lips) when paired with green (as seen on her earrings and in her frock) is a winning combination. The reason is because pinkish tones are directly opposite of greenish tones on the color wheel, so Emily's overall ensemble made for one truly spellbinding style.
