To close out New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs presented one of the dreamiest runways yet in psychedelic setting. The models seemed to take on a Mary-Tyler-Moore-meets-Megan-Draper persona thanks to chin-length bob wigs and simple stretchy headbands. Guido Palau took care of styling the retro hair, while Victoria Hunter for Whittemore House Salon in NYC was responsible for the color.
François Nars himself did the monochromatic makeup look that incorporated pastel shimmery eyes with a brown sweep along the crease, contoured cheeks, and outlined nude lips. Eyebrows were bleached to match wigs. "The makeup look was really inspired by the collection, which is very 'matte,"" he said. "There's nothing too silky and I wanted that to translate to the makeup. The models look like mannequins. The eyelid is a pale neutral gray and we made it look bigger by foregoing mascara. The lips have a touch of frosted metallic silver. We used a lot of powder for a matte, porcelain finish."
Five neutral custom nail polish shades were created especially for the catwalk and are part of the Marc Jacobs Beauty collection. You can look out for the new high-shine lacquers — Julia, 9 to 5, Charlie, Tootsie, and Klute — come Fall at Sephora. Lead manicurist Marian Newman applied two coats for the show.
