- Start off by applying a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to the skin as a base, and to even out the skin tone, use a foundation that's also light in texture and free of oil. Mai used Face Xpert Flawless Touch Makeup ($10) in Honey on Ashley.
- Add a dab of concealer where needed — mostly around the nose and under the eyes. Mai used Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer ($6) in Light/Medium.
- Using a soft, fluffy powder brush, tap on a sheer powder with light coverage to set. Mai used Matte-nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder ($10) in Golden Honey.
- Create a sunkissed effect by dusting on a super subtle warm blush. Mai used Good Glowing Mosaic Blush Custom Color Palette ($7).
"Initially, I was drawn to Mark because of the products," she told WWD. "But what really sealed the deal was its empowering message to young women, which is something I relate to." Expect Ashley to appear in ads (shot by famed fashion photog Patrick Demarchelier) and Mark's "magalog" this autumn. Do you think this partnership is a match that sparkles?
For a look that's flattering, warm, and a bit on the softer side, a cheek tint is always a great option. Cheek tints have enough punch to be noticeable but are light enough so you don't feel as if you've overdone it. Take Ali Larter, for instance, who looks as though she's blushing naturally. For that glowing-from-within effect, a sheer cheek tint is the way to go. Makeup artist Mai Quynh used Mark's Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude ($7) on the apples of Ali's cheeks, sweeping a mattifying powder over the blush to set.
Generally speaking, tints that come in push-up sticks are easy to apply — you just swivel the product up, blend it into skin, and go — but brush-on liquid versions such as Benefit's PosieTint can come in handy, too. (Here's a tip if you go for that version: apply the liquid tint with a cosmetic sponge for lighter coverage.) Need ideas for getting cheeky? Check out some options in the widget below.
Reader Steen has found a great budget blush in Mark Good Glowing Custom Pick Powder Blush ($6), a fragrance-free cheek enhancer that can be popped in and out of a compact for a customized palette. Take it away, Steen:
I ordered this in Kitten Glo and After Glo (a much-loved duplicate for NARS Orgasm). The color payoff is pretty crazy, so you have to keep a light hand with these, but they're definitely worth it. After Glo is my favorite! It's the perfect peachy color and adds a nice, natural color to my cheeks.

If you're a fan of vintage styles, you're going to love this how-to. On Sunday, makeup artist Jamie Greenberg helped to transform Twilight's Ashley Greene into a 1940s siren at the MTV Movie Awards. The majority of you were loving it, and now I've got tips straight from Greenberg on copying the glamorous look on your own, all using products from Mark. For the scoop, read more
Avon's hip brand, Mark, has been known to take us to exotic locales through its "Instant Vacation" fragrance collections. And now, it's time to go south, to Central America. The tropical Instant Vacation Costa Rica Fragrance Mist ($16) has notes of iced watermelon, pink guava, orchid, and warm sand accord, together creating a warm, beachy scent that's not too gag-me sweet.
Pair that with the exfoliating Costa Rica Body-Smoothing Exfoliator ($10), which I personally love for its creamy lather, light fruity scent, and fine-grit scrubbing, and then get your safe-sunning on with the Costa Rica Gradual Tan Moisturizer ($8).
Of course, no vacation would be complete — even if it's one of the faux nature — without some makeup. The Costa Rica makeup shades are centered around vivid colors like electric blues, vibrant greens, and bright oranges, all inspired by the natural beauty of the country itself, including: Eye Exotics Eye Shadow Trio ($6 each); Lip Exotics Lip Lacquer ($6); and Good Glowing Mosaic Cheek Color ($7).
