Get the Glamorous Makeup We're Expecting to See at Met Gala 2014

May 5 2014 - 4:30am

Every year, the Costume Institute benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art brings forth the biggest names in fashion paired with A-list celebrities as their mannequins, er, dates for a night. Last year, the theme was Punk: Chaos to Couture, which inspired many edgy and extreme hair and makeup moments [1] (RIP to Anne Hathaway [2]'s white-blond hair [3]). However this year, we expect the beauty to be a tad more tame.

For 2014, the Met Gala will honor the work of designer Charles James [4]. In fashion, that means extravagant ball gowns with architectural shapes. But for beauty, you can expect hairstyles sourced from the '40s and '50s (like French rolls, chignons, and pin curls). There are also sure to be multiple brick-red lips, tons of winged eyeliner, and overdone angular aches on the red carpet come May 5. It's all just a guessing game at this point, but we've taken notes from Charles James's designs to create a makeup palette of our own.
