Who Knew? Bold Blue Eyeliner Can Look Kinda Subtle

Blue eyeliner can go two ways. In the worst-case scenario, you resemble Dee Snider from Twisted Sister. (No offense, Mr. Snider.) Wear blue eyeliner well, though, and you'll have a more daring and unexpected look.

Yesterday I tried out Cover Girl LiquiLine Blast ($8) in Blue Boom, a metallic royal blue dreamed up by makeup guru Pat McGrath. I applied it close to the lash line, then gently smudged it upward to create the illusion of a smoky eye. Many compliments were had. So the idea that blue eyeliner has to look totally '80s? We're not gonna take it anymore.

I love colored eyeliner. I usually stick to blue, but I also really like plum and every now and then I'll use a dark green. And of course the old standby of black or gray gets used a lot too!

Plum's tricky. I've seen it look amazing on some people, but sometimes I feel like it makes me look stoned. Which is silly because I've never smoked! (Honestly.)

I've only used navy/midnight blue eyeliner since highschool. I read somewhere that it made the whites of your eyes pop, and so I tried it and loved it ever since. My sister always uses plum, which I don't like as much. I've also tried green, but my fave is always blue!

i actually have done this for awhile and i love it. it is especially good when i am a bit tired because it gives me a little extra pop.

i love to use colored eyeliners. sometimes i color my whole eyelid with them, then use a black liquid close to the lashline. it gives a really cool, punky effect.
