Unlike her Gossip Girl character Georgina Sparks, Michelle Trachtenberg seems to have a good head on her shoulders, and she showed it off to her best advantage last night at a party hosted by American Eagle. She didn't shy away from her naturally pale skin, and her eye makeup was sexy, fun, and a little retro. This look would be perfect for your upcoming holiday parties, so to find out how to get it, just read more.
Eyes:
- Sweep a shimmery white gold shadow, like Iman Luxury Eyeshadow in White Gold ($7), from your lash line to your crease.
- Use a black liquid liner, like Beauty Treats Liquid Eyeliner ($4), to draw a thick line from your inner eye out past the edge of your lash line, making the line thickest at the section over your irises.
- Apply several coats of lengthening black mascara on both upper and lower lashes.
Lips and Cheeks:
- Dab a liquid luminizer, like Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion ($24), on the apples of your cheek, and then sweep a whisper pink blush, like Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Blush For Cheeks in Precious Pink ($13) lightly over it.
- For your lips, use a slightly pink gloss, like Too Faced Girls Dig Pearls Lip Gloss in Shell ($18).

oh my... she's almost as white as her jacket
1yeesh. not her best look.
2Wow, ghostly! They need to calm down on the foundation or amp it up with the blush a bit.
3being extremely fair myself, i love that the makeup artist played it up. I realize fair isn't the ideal skin tone for most people but instead of adding bronzer, using a darker shade, or layering on blush it's nice that they embraced it. I think she looks beautiful and i'm dissapointed that people here are perpetuating the popular opinion that fair skin is unattractive
4I too am extremely fair-skinned, to the point where I was teased as a child and while I do like to play it up with a bit of blush so it doesn't look quite so fierce, I am also sick of the way people still expect me to conform to their ideals and expectations by telling me that I need a tan or need to go to the tanning salon, but over time I actually have come to love my fair skin. Fair can be beautiful too.
5I'm very fair skinned myself and have learned to embrace it... but a lil pale pink blush goes a long way. Either Michelle just has too much foundation or the makeup ppl should add blush!! So many women just completely skip over it but a little color makes such a huge difference...The monochromatic pale thing isn't working for her, she looks like a 'True Blood' extra, lol. Very pretty girl though.
6I'm sure it's the flash bulbs that is making her look very fair on film. Same thing happens to me and I'm pretty pale. Anyway, I think she looks pretty and I like the makeup; though, a little blush wouldn't hurt.
7I think Michelle's skin is stunning!! Tanning and using bronzer is a very American custom. In other cultures, paleness is revered. To each their own I guess. I personally think her skin is amazing and I hope she never ruins it by tanning.
8I think this is beautiful. I'm also very fair. I do admit it would look better and the blush would make sense if she wore her hair down. Other than that, I think it's beautiful as is.
9i normally think she is beautiful. i love her skin. i just think that her makeup is washing her out.
10Does her skin sparkle in the sun?
11She is so beautiful.
12i'm pale too and i LOVE that the makeup artist let her true skin color shine through! i think she looks gorgeous
13her porcelain skin is stunning.
14She does need a little blush, but I really hope she doesn't succumb to pressure and turn herself orange. She works the pale skin look!
15She looks like a vampire
16I'm not "anti-fair skin." I just don't like this particular shade of fair. I prefer a more "peaches & cream fair" skin look, not the "wax figure fair" look.
17I'm all for embracing your natural skin color, and in general I think she looks great. She is VERY white. I just think she needed maybe a little blush, not to conform to the idea that tanning and color is better but because to me having pale skin is one thing and actually looking pale is another. I have dark skin and yet sometimes i need some blush to avoid looking like a paper bag.
18I think she looks great. Had she added a brighter blush - it would have seemed overdone since her eyes are so heavily lined and her hair is pulled back. The pale pink blush she has on works fine.
I love seeing celebs who stay pale rather than reach for bronzer or tanner.
I'm shockingly white - whiter than any drug store foundation - even most of the higher end makeups are not pale enough for me or they don't have the right undertone. I'm embracing the fact that I am as white as a sheet of paper. In a world full of tan and bronzed faced, my paleness stands out.
19That is not her natural color! Go see the smashbox Artificial light lotion, in the pearl color. This is too much of that on an already white skin. I'm white, not even fair, completely white, so much so that in pictures taken with the flash, I look ghostly, and on the beach I reflect the sunlight. Plus, I've always embraced my paleness, even when it was fashionable being orange. I never tried to be a different color than I am. But this isn't a human color, she has white-grey undertones, which human beings don't have. Nobody who has blood pumping in their veins could be that color, that's pure vampire.
20Good news is, had she been cast in Twilight, they would have saved an hour on make up. Bad news is, had she been a bit darker, that much would have worked. I'm all for fairness, but this is pure Halloween.
i think she is beautiful! but i do not remember her being that pale.
21after years of tanning my naturally british- pale skin to unruly shades of brown and orange, i had dysplastic nevi (translation: skin cancer scares) and now i do not go in the sun. after those surgeries, i was warned to stay out of the sun..and tanning beds... and now i dont leave the house without SPF 50. after being tan my whole life, i am now 23 and learning to embrace the beauty of pale skin, and my freckles.
yes, some people say that i "glow" in the sun, or i belong in vampire movies, but that doesnt bother me. i would rather be cancer free than brown or orange!
She looks great and I am glad she is confident. My skin is that fair and no, it isn't "pure Halloween.". I just look that way. It's skin. No need to be prejudiced jerks about it.
22She's super pretty, but I don't know why she wants to look like a cullen, she would be much prettier if she used like 3 shades darker foundation than what she's using in this picture.
23She still looks beautiful tho!
