To complement Milly by Michelle Smith's girlie wears, her beauty pros put together a post-dance-class ballerina look.
"She is a classic girl who has an edge and is definitely very New York," explained Christopher Dove for Wella Professional of his hair inspiration. "She is coming straight from a ballet class and had her hair up in a topknot, so it has a bit of movement in it. Then she pulls her hair back herself into a loose ponytail and takes a piece of hair and twists it around [covering the elastic]. She is put together and sophisticated but not too polished." He used Wella Professional Oil Reflections Smoothing Oil ($30) to give the updos luster.
And did he think the Lincoln Center show location influenced the dancer inspiration? "Yes. Plus, models look poised and have the long, elongated bodies that dancers have, so it made sense."
For makeup, Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com created the look. "We're very softly doing a haze around the eyes but using a navy instead of a black, charcoal, or brown. It's a bit softer, and there's a lot of navy in the collection." To do this, she used Kevyn Aucoin The Eye Shadow Duo in Black and Blue Shimmer ($42). Other standout products included a new Kevyn Aucoin The Plumping Lip Balm in Sheer Petal (out this Fall) and The Primed Skin Developer ($68) to set the makeup and wake up skin.
Nails were done by Michelle Saunders for Essie and featured a soft-pink look. She layered Cocktails & Coconuts ($9), Mademoiselle ($9), and Ridge Filling Base Coat ($8).
