When German model Anna Ewers walked into a casting call for Alexander Wang's premier Balenciaga fashion show in 2013, she had no idea that her career would be changed forever. Since then, the designer and his muse have experienced a lot of firsts together. She walked in Wang's inaugural Balenciaga fashion show for Fall 2013, which was also her biggest runway debut. Anna was Alexander's date for her first CFDA red carpet, and now she is the face of his new fragrance, B. Balenciaga ($145). The scent is a mix of lily of the valley, iris root, violet green leaves, and cedarwood that translates into a ladylike floral we could wear every day. Keep reading for Anna's essential beauty tips (like her favorite mascara), and see all the behind-the-scenes shots from the campaign photo shoot. Source: Getty / Timur Emek

No Makeup Isn't Just a Trend, It's a Way of Life

When you have amazing skin like Anna, why muddy it up with makeup? You'll spot her modeling all types of eccentric beauty looks in magazine editorials and on runways, but she prefers to go bare otherwise. "I like to keep it simple," she said. "For a natural look, I just use a little concealer and mascara." Her favorite everyday product is Chanel mascara ($30). When she does get all dressed up, you can spot her rocking a smoky eye or dark red lip. But never both at the same time.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

We've heard all kinds of unusual skin care tips from models, but Anna's routine requires only two essentials: makeup remover and moisturizer. You won't find any fancy facial masks or glitzy treatments at her vanity; she prefers the no-frills approach.

Anna's blond beauty has been compared to the likes of Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Schiffer. So when we asked if she'd ever try another hair color, the answer was a resounding "no"! "I have tried a lot of wigs on for shoots, and I like it because you become a different character, but not for my personal life," she said.

Be Yourself

Be Yourself

This advice actually came to Anna from Alexander. "[He told me] to just be who I am and feel comfortable with myself," she said. "He is my biggest supporter and has been a very good friend."

"I think it's really important to not stress out about anything," she said. "Other models have been telling me, 'Just chill,' and that is really important." To get into Zen mode, Anna visits her favorite Williamsburg spa, Treat Your Body, for a massage. "I like going after work back to Brooklyn because it is so much more relaxed and chill."

We know you assume that Anna got her amazing body by spending hours slaving in the gym — wrong! "I like cycling and swimming and walking everywhere," she explained. "I’m not going to the gym. I like being outside, rather than inside a room."

The Walk-Through Method Is Still the Best Way to Apply Perfume

Since Anna has a love of the outdoors, she picks up on the natural notes of the B. Balenciaga perfume. "It smells really fresh and has wooden notes to it as well," she said. When she applies the fragrance at home, she uses the tried-and-true walk-through method.
