Braids, Berry Lips, and French Manis Make Nanette Lepore On Trend

Gypsy was the word to describe the beauty backstage at Nanette Lepore, but truly this look could work for any woman who loves beauty. In fact, the show hit on three separate Fall 2014 trends at once: braids, berry lips, and the french manicure. Lead hairstylist James Pecis created two looks prepping hair with Alterna Root Boost ($25). The first created a faux fringe with a loose braid across the forehead to match the more sophisticated clothing. The alternative updo was actually created by knotting hair all around the head and pinning it up. The style was a braid alternative that showcased the hand-detailing on the back of the some garments.

"The collection has the most amazing colors — plum, purple, pinks — the gray liquid liner acts as the perfect neutral and screams Fall," said makeup artist Sarah Lucero. She used a light gray Stila Cosmetics liner called Alloy ($20) then added a line of false lashes. The lip was a mix of a beige base with Pomegranate Crush ($24) stain in the center.

Michelle Saunders used three polishes to create a rotated french manicure. First, she covered the entire nail with a dove gray polish called Chinchilly ($9). Then she added a purplish red color, Berry Naughty ($9), to the left side of the nail. Lastly, she used a shimmering graphite, Over the Edge ($9), on the right. "You don't need grommets or rhinestones or spikes to create an acceptable and modern nail look. All you need is polish!"
