If you want to be avant-garde these days, weave a necklace out of someone's hair. Artist Kerry Howley's human hair necklace collection, Attraction/Aversion, is generating a lot of buzz both for its Baroque beauty and its intense creepiness.
"The necklaces are made of human hair, a familiar material that we take pride in," Howley says. "However, once off of the body hair becomes an innate source of aversion . . . [I] wanted to see if [I] could make discarded hair attractive again."
What do you think? Did Howley succeed in upcycling this brush residue into a thing of beauty? Or do you think shed hair should stay just that?
