I recently ran 13.1 miles in the Nike Women's Marathon, and this perfect little lip balm — Neutrogena's Revitalizing Lip Balm ($9) — was stashed in my prerace goody bag. Nobody really wants to look too done up when exercising, but this sheer, tinted balm gives you the tiniest boost of color without looking unnatural. SPF 20 shields delicate skin, while a collagen-stimulating complex plumps and moisturizes. The Healthy Blush shade (pictured above) is a personal favorite for a rosy flush, but this balm's also available in five other shades, ranging from toasty caramel to a pretty plum. When a lip balm can make it through miles upon miles of the hills and fog of San Francisco, you know it's a very good thing.
Neutrogena's Transparent Facial Bar ($3) has been the brand's star item since the bar launched back in the 1950s. After many years of its absence from my shower caddy, I recently decided to give the old classic another whirl. I was not disappointed.
With its distinctive amber color and clean scent, you'll likely get a sensory memory explosion of sorts (hello, junior high!). What makes the old-school bar so great is that it leaves behind no residue or tightness. If you have flaky or parched skin, however, this soap might not be the right match due to the high-cleanse formulation. And unlike many creamy cleansers, this solid gel-like bar really does rinse away very easily. Considering the price, results, scent, and the fact that glowy-skinned Jennifer Aniston counts it as one of her favorites, I'll be reserving a spot for this one in my shower once again.
Not only has Kerry Washington been named Neutrogena's latest brand ambassador, but the actress will also take on the job of creative consultant for the company.
If you're wondering what a creative consultant does, it's a lot like her Olivia Pope role on Scandal. She'll help brainstorm marketing campaigns and product development by testing things out herself, reaching out on social media for input. "For me, it's not just about consulting, but it's also about being a voice outside the company," she told us in a phone interview. "It's to sort of say, 'Beauty is not just about loading on products to try to look like somebody else. It's really about being the best, healthiest version of yourself.'"
That's not all Kerry had to share. Find out the product she never goes to bed without applying, along with the things she learned on the Save the Last Dance set that she still uses today, after the jump.
Kerry Washington has signed on as the new spokeswoman of Neutrogena. And if you're as addicted to Scandal as we are, then you know Kerry's glowing skin is a perfect match for the beauty brand. The Emmy-nominated actress will be both a brand ambassador and a creative consultant, so it's more than just a modeling gig. She will actually be involved in developing new products and marketing ideas. "For me, the creative consultant role is also fun because I get to bring my fans on this adventure with me," she told WWD. "They know that I have a voice in the company and that I'm discovering and learning more about skin health all the time and giving the company feedback." The news comes only a month after the announcement that Modern Family star Julie Bowen will be back with the brand, too. The only drawback is that we have to wait until next year to see the campaign, which will feature Neutrogena's new BB creams and classic face wipes. Let the shrieking in excitement begin!
Julie Bowen has been named as a Neutrogena spokesperson . . . again. That's right: the Modern Family star will be fronting campaigns for the skin care brand come 2014, but this isn't her first time she's linked up with Neutrogena. From 2001 to 2008, Julie appeared in both print and commercial ads for the brand. She revealed the news through her Twitter account writing, "Once n always #Neutrogena grl-I'm back as #NTGspokesperson #FBF more like #SplashBackFriday." Julie joins other celebrities, such as Jennifer Garner, Gabrielle Union, Hayden Panettiere, and Emma Roberts, who count themselves as ambassadors for the company. And now it's time for a flashback. Watch the video below see Julie tout the benefits of a Neutrogena antiwrinkle cream.
I swear by my oil cleanser to get rid of every last trace of my very waterproof mascara, but when I forgot to pack it in my luggage, I was forced to find a new option. Enter: Neutrogena Ultra-Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads ($8). I usually steer clear of "soft" or "gentle" eye makeup removers, because my waterproof makeup is no joke. But these plush, oil-free eye makeup remover pads gently get every last trace of my eye makeup. Consider me impressed.
It may seem like purchasing a sunscreen would be easy. That is, until you wind up spending 45 minutes determining which you should buy for your day at the beach and which one won't leave you greasy at a Summer party, and, not to mention, trying to decide if you should go with a spray or a lotion. If you're venturing toward a spray-and-go purchase, we explain what situations and events they're best for, and give three top-shelf recommendations to boot. On Kirbie: BCBG Max Azria dress.
On Nashville, Hayden Panettiere plays a young up-and-comer in the country music business. While we're done watching the drama unfold for this season, Juliette Barnes's makeup looks are perfectly primed for the Summer season. Find out how to re-create these flattering looks from the show's head makeup artist, Erin Koplow. Plus, Hayden, a Brand Ambassador for Neutrogena, reveals her off-duty beauty regimen when you read more.
Jennifer Garner stepped out in NYC yesterday after wrapping up the Neutrogena Sun Summit event. The actress kept warm in a pink sweater and scarf as she exited a building in Columbus Circle with a smile. As Neutrogena's brand ambassador, Jennifer was in the city to speak about the skin-damaging effects coinciding with the changing environment. Her attendance at yesterday's environmental awareness event adds to her growing list of causes she's taken action to support recently. She and Ben Affleck cochaired the 10th annual Stuart House Benefit, and they're also raising money for A-T Children's Project, but despite the busy schedule, Jennifer made time to take Serapina to breakfast at their favorite spot this week.
