This is quite the heavy hitter—and with that, I'm talking about the hit this will take on your wallet. Chantecaille has a new luxury face cream called Nano Gold Energizing Cream. Formulated from silk microfibers coated in 24-karat gold, this cream promises to reduce inflammation, promotes cell stimulation and collagen production, all while increasing circulation and the level of cell regeneration.

In addition, it claims to repair damage cause by the sun and other environmental factors—all for the price of $420. Skin will supposedly look younger, feel softer and look brighter. Would you ever consider coughing up this kind of hard-earned cash for face cream made from gold?

It's all just marketing. There is no reason that this should work any better than the $8 olay stuff you get at the drugstore, or slathering olive oil on your skin. I'd be a fool to waste my money on something like this.

i would if i had the extra money but then again there are still shoes i could get with that and a purse and....yeah face cream isn't on the top of my list!!! but it sounds good!!

Georgio Armani's Crema Nera @ $275 is a steep price, but I have felt the cream and it literally melts into one's skin, leaving it very fresh and dewy. I don't know about this one though; people have their vices -- how much they'll spend on clothes, hair color, etc., etc. -- the same goes for skincare -- especially when we start to age; I am 58 and if the $275 -- $420 was in my price range, I would buy it, no questions asked.

Wow. As much as I hate to admit this, I don't think there will come a time that I'd have $420 extra lying around! If I did, though... no, probably not. I just couldn't justify that in my mind.

Considering how non-reactive gold is (chemically speaking), that's a pretty hilarious gimmick.
