Most people think that extensions are heavy and flow all the way down your back, but that's not always the case. Take Nicole Richie, for example. Some of you already guessed from my quiz about celebrity hair extensions that she even wears them in her bangs!

Sheila Stotts, who has been styling Nicole's hair for five years, adds piecey extensions all over her head and to her bangs to create that amazing sweep she's known for.

Since Nicole's hair is pretty thin, she needs extra volume. Sheila uses a razor to cut the ends and then shapes the hair with scissors. She also colors her hair a soft shade of honey-blond and works in random toffee low-lights for depth and edginess.

TRICKY TRICKY. Celebrities get a lot more done than we would think. I would not have known about her subtle extensions to create that great sweep. That's a pretty good idea because my hair won't listen to me and sweep nicely. kelliegonzo, chemical straightening is safe if you go to like an asian salon. They do a great job, even if it takes a while, and it makes your hair softer and shinier, too. I've personally never heard horror stories (and have gotten it done before). But make sure to dry your hair before going to bed or your hair won't come out straight in the morning.

yeah extensions freak me out, maybe if i relaxed my hair...but i doubt i would ever. i've heard horror stories about chemical straightening.

How could you get them in your bangs when the guy in the youtube vid said not to put them above a certain point (or else they will show)??

this is why us every day people shouldnt feel bad if we dont look like the hollywood stars. they have all these tricks and crews of people working for them and their beauty...right at the tips of they fingers.

@Blue Tigerlily you don't have to keep doing it. you just have to take care of your hair so that breakage doesn't occur. for instance, with regards to relaxing, i've stopped relaxing my hair and i know many ppl who have stopped (and didn't have to cut their hair off). idk about dyeing but you can take off extensions and if you take good care of your hair, minimal breakage should occur

I spent a fortune to have hair extensions to put in - only to have them fall out a month later. I took care of them exactly as I was told, bought all the stuff I needed for them and no luck. I now think it's a waste of money, even if you're Nicole Richie and can afford the maintenance. Bust out the teasing comb and you'll be just fine.

Hair extensions are a dangerous deal. It's kind of like getting you hair dyed or relaxing your hair. Once you do it, you have to keep doing it. Also, with the individual extensions, if you don't have a proper stylist install them, (and if YOU don't take care of them) when you take them out, your hair will start to break off at the root.

Her hair truly is gorgeous. The bangs, the rich colours, very polished but always modern. Convincing me more and more to buy a few sets of those clip on hair extensions and just play around with them.
