What Was Your First Perfume?

You probably did it behind the bleachers, in your bedroom, and even near your locker. I'm talking about dousing yourself with the first perfume you ever bought, of course.

If you're like Jennifer Garner, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Gwen Stefani, perhaps Love's Baby Soft was also your first scent. I think we can all agree the powdery spray is pretty much the gold standard foray into the fragrance world. (If you're looking for something a bit more sophisticated, there are plenty of grown-up alternatives available.)

A while back, we looked at the top 10 fragrances you might have worn in junior high. Do any of those scents ring a bell? Whatever the case may be, what was the first perfume you ever wore?

"Sunflowers" ! I don't remember who made it but it began my love of scents :) I also snuck a spray of "Poison" from my moms beauty table every now and then but knowing what I know now, it was probably wayyy too strong for my age back then lol

My first "real" perfume? -or- my first scent used as a perfume? First scents used as perfume: -I loved everything "Tinkerbell" - body lotions,bubble bath,soaps,perfume/body H20, etc. I'm referring to the Tinkerbell girly stuff from the late 70's (unrelated to Walt's Tinkerbell). -Tussy anti-perspirant. Sprayed my love letters with it. First perfume (ab)used as directed: -Love's Baby Soft Followed by: -Lauren -Anus Anus (Anais Anais)

Mashed up my own strawberries and they rotted..was awful. But hey, I was a tiny thing. Loves BabySoft when I was about 12 (1976) and also Loves Lemon. My first *real* perfume was Giorgio when it first came out around 1981..worked at Robinson's department store at Fashion Island , Newport Beach, CA and they would pump it through the HVAC system. Got sick of it real quick.

I went from body splashes in Jr High to Clinique Happy in High School. I think I remember my older sister had, Joop! (Is that a real thing?) I had a plastic pink squiggle in the bottle.

My first perfume was Avon's Sweet Honesty and then over to Diane VonFustenberg's Tatiana. Wish they still made them smell the way they used to. I think they changed their formulas since they don't smell the same any more.

I must be a bit older than most readers here - also, my mom was the prototypical style muse in the 70's so I wore her stuff a lot. "My" first fragrance as a teen was Polo (the square, dark amber bottle). Colors by Benetton was a huge as on as was Gap's Om (recently re-released). I also wore YSL opium, Poison, Paloma Picasso, Magie Noir, Giorgio, CoCo Chanel (hey, it was the 80's!)also mom's YSL Rive Gauche, Joy de Jean Patou, Bal A Versailles, Fracas... I was a very sophiticated 14 year old. But the most interesting thing about the connection between smell and memory (which sit side by side in the brain) is that whenever I catch a whiff of Kuoros, I miss my first teenage love.

LOVE'S BABY SOFT & SOFT MUSK BY AVON!! Boy does that show my age or what?!! LOL!! I always got lots of compliments from the boys & girls from grade school & jr high classmates!! TOO CUTE!!

Before Jr High when I would play dress up, I would douse myself in Charlie, then around 6th grade was Electric Youth, next came Exclamation! and then Gap Dream to round out the high school years.

I loved Chanel #19, Coco Channel chose all of her fragrances by numbers because numbers held meaning to her. She believed #19 was the age that a girl becomes a woman. Her birthday was the 5th of the month and that's why #5 was her classic fragrance. But I heard #19 was her personal scent that was not released until after her death. XO

I would "borrow" my mother's scent, Anais Anais, but I think the first one I owned was Chanel No 5. A family friend had given it to me.

Gap Dream, Navy by Dana, Malibu Musk, Primo (body spray), Love's Baby Soft, and Chanel No 5. All before I was a teen. I wore them mostly around the house and not to school. I did wear Gap Dream, Clinique Happy, Estee Lauder Pleasures, and Victoria's Secret Pink in High School.
