Oscars Hair Trend: Long Straight Hair

Straight, sleek, smooth, stately and statuesque. If there was a category for Best Hair, the Academy would surely have another tough decision to make. When your dress speaks volumes then you have to choose an understated hairstyle to balance your look.

Take pointers from these women with long, healthy locks: straight is bellissima! Just ask Gwyneth, Reese, Kelly Preston, Ellen Pompeo, Zizi Zhang and Nicole. I love this look and don't think it's plain at all. What do you think?

Reese's hair looks fantastic. On the other end of the spectrum is Gwyneth's. I think she really needs to do something with hers. It's just long and limp and over processed.

Ellen looked much better this time. Couldn't see the dress but that also looked prosperous.

I miss Nicole Kidman's curls. Straight is lovely if it is natural, but why do celebs avoid naturally curly hair like the plague? I'm probably just incredibly biased, since I have to spend an hour or two with an iron to get my hair straight and I've learned to love my curls- they make you look different from everyone else.

The long hair over one shoulder is great...a little contrived but great. BUT...when you have a big ol' bow on the back of your neck on one side and a curtain of hair on the other its a bit much in a rather small area. And when you have strong architectural lines on your gown why break it up with, again, a distracting curtain of hair? It looks great with the strapless gowns sans necklace...Reese was impeccable.

Reese's hair looks amazing but the rest is just boring. It might go with all those evening gowns but I don't want it to become a trend for everyday life.
