With a surprising amount of new launches every year and veteran scent stars like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez, celebrity fragrances are in a category of their own. This year, we've seen One Direction expand its stardom with Our Moment, which made for a hilarious ad, and Justin Bieber released a new scent, The Key, with an equally interesting short film. This year marks Britney Spears's 10-year milestone in the fragrance industry, and she didn't miss out on the opportunity to launch Island Fantasy and her song "Perfume." But that's just the tip of the iceberg in all the celebrity fragrance launches this year. We're narrowing it down to the top 10, but who gets your vote for the best perfume launch of the year?

Oh, Jay Z (no hyphen). Musical domination wasn't enough, but now you have to go and take over the men's fragrance market, too? Gold Jay Z, the first scent from everyone's favorite rapper/designer/business mogul, is now available at Barneys just in time for the holiday season.
The fragrance debuted today as part of his charitable collaboration with Barneys New York. Already, the project has gotten a lot of press with the department store's racial profiling scandal looming. However, Jay Z isn't phased. On his blog, Life + Times, he ensured followers that 10 percent of sales on Nov. 20 will go to the Shawn Carter Foundation, which provides scholarships to those with financial need. Gold Jay Z will be available nationwide at other retailers on Nov. 29 (Black Friday).
At first glance, the bottle seems to be a simple white bottle with gold accents. But the cap is actually engraved with Jay Z's words of encouragement: power, pride, confidence, strength, success, courage. Within, you'll find a masculine juice with a mix of bergamot and cardamom at the start, which bleed into vetiver and teak wood. Finally, the scent finishes with amber, myrrh, and bourbon vanilla. The prices range from $39-$150.
And knowing the level of innovation that Jay Z demands on a regular basis with his music, including launching his guaranteed-platinum album on mobile and his video on Facebook and taking over one of the world's most prestigious art galleries to rap for six hours straight, he's not playing it safe with his fragrance launch. For example, the window displays in Macy's will convert your reflection into a gold avatar, and that is only the beginning. Needless to say, we think Jay Z has the Midas touch.
A stylish bottle of perfume is always a popular gift for the holidays, and mothers, sisters, and friends will all welcome a new addition to their scent wardrobe. Before you head to the local department store and get a spritz-induced headache, shop our perfume favorites. We're rounding up fragrance classics like Dior, new releases from Marc Jacobs, and a popular celebrity scent. Forget frankincense and myrrh; this year, the holidays smell like one of these gifts under the tree.
Finding your signature scent is one thing, but deciding your wedding-day perfume can be a little daunting. Renee Bukowski, senior product development manager of Tru Fragrance, gave us her insight to choosing, wearing, and even gifting fragrance for a wedding. So whether you're the bride, bridesmaid, or guest, we have tips to help you decode wedding-day perfume.
POPSUGAR: What are your tips to help brides choose a wedding-day perfume?
Renee Bukowski: Scent is very powerful, as it often acts as an emotional trigger for special moments and memories. When choosing a wedding-day scent, brides should pick something special that has a shared significance with her partner — a scent that her partner will recognize her by. I recommend brides reference flowers they have chosen for their bridal bouquet, as these usually are flowers they like, and they're usually in bloom that season.
PS: What are some classic fragrances or notes you would recommend for a bride on her wedding day?
RB: Floral fragrances work well for a bride on her big day, as they suit the femininity of the dress and the occasion. There are a lot of modern roses and classic floral notes, such as white floral, which have been modernized for today, and fragrance houses often combine them with fruity notes. Fragrances featuring the beautiful notes of modern rose include Chloé Eau de Parfum ($115), Chanel Chance ($105), or Dior J'Adore ($90). If it is outdoors, I'd recommend a light scent opposed to an evening wedding or black-tie wedding, where I'd suggest a slightly stronger scent.
PS: What steps can a bride take to ensure her fragrance stays on from ceremony to reception?
RB: Wedding days are usually long affairs, so I suggest brides keep a purse-size bottle or rollerball of their fragrance with them, allowing them to discreetly apply it throughout the day. I also recommend applying the scent to the neck and pulse points to ensure the fragrance is long-lasting.

By now it's a well-known fact that Marilyn Monroe had a love for Chanel No. 5. Now, over 50 years after her death, the brand has unearthed audio and images for an all-new advertising campaign. Using the unheard recording from her 1960 interview with Marie Claire, Chanel has created a montage of the actress, which will begin airing in television spots this month. In addition to her voice, the campaign will include classic images of the blond beauty dug up from the archives. Marilyn Monroe and Chanel No. 5? Classic beauty doesn't get any better than that.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen have already taken the fashion world by storm with their designs, and now the two are tackling the beauty arena with a new fragrance deal in conjunction with their Elizabeth and James line. Mary-Kate and Ashley will debut a fragrance line, dubbed Nirvana, with Sephora this January. The line's first fragrances will be Black, a woody scent, and White, a musky floral.
"We always knew we wanted to have a fragrance for this brand, because it's very lifestyle," Ashley explained to WWD. "We felt that between the brand Elizabeth and James and Sephora that we were really speaking together directly to our customer. We felt that was a really good place to start exploring the world of fragrance and beauty." Originally, the idea was just to tackle one fragrance, but the twins found it too difficult to settle on just a handful of notes. So after a two-year development period, the scents are finally ready to be launched.
Nirvana Black went through 50 different incarnations before Mary-Kate and Ashley settled on the winner. The scent contains notes of violet, sandalwood, and vanilla. Nirvana White came together more quickly in a handful of months and contains notes of peony, muguet, and musk. The perfumes will each be available in three sizes: 50 ml. for $75, 30 ml. for $55, and a rollerball for $22. "We wanted the bottles to feel sensual," Mary-Kate said, describing the opaque-textured containers inspired by an antique.
After a brief holiday preview from Dec 13-25, the scents will launch at Sephora across the country in late January. And how will the sisters know that their fragrance has hit it big in the real world? "I'd like to walk down the street and smell a note of it," Mary-Kate quipped.
