Ever since I caught a glimpse of this Lancome Destiny Cube ($50) back in April, I've been obsessed. I know, I'm an eager beaver, because it doesn't even hit stores until September. But lucky for me, the folks over at Lancome sensed my desperation and I've been blissfully fiddling around with this Mystery box for the past couple of days.
What makes this limited edition piece special is its innovative design and its mood deciphering quality. It is part of the Gucci Westman Fall 2007 Mystery Game Collection and was inspired by an 18th-century Chinese box.
It is a cube-shaped contraption that opens from two sides with two lip glosses and a mirror on one side, and two eye shadows and a mirror on the other. It is available in two palettes: Charisma (pale pink lips with brown and violet shadows) and Deep Fascination (red and burgundy lips with light green and pink shadows). I found that the colors blend very easily and nicely complement each other. I only wonder why they made it so darn heavy. It looks beautiful on my bathroom counter, but there's no way I'd tote this around in my handbag or travel bag. There is a fair amount of product inside, but it pales in comparison to how much packaging weight is around it.
But then again, who am I kidding? I can't travel with half the products I own anyway—no one makes a makeup case that large!

5I totally have a makeup case big enough for everything! But it can't move off my dressing table, it's why too big. It's an huge art supply box!

15I used to use Lancome but I found that their eyeshadows didn't stay on well, even using a base underneath. I have since switched to M.A.C. and love their stuff too much to switch back.

17Personally I just cannot ever see me spending 50 bucks on any one thing thats a make up. Now 50 bucks for everything thats more up my alley
18Wow I so want this! Charisma sounds gorgeous. I don't splurge on high end makeup often so I'd like to treat myself to one of these babies when it comes out.

22I ordered this kit in Deep Fascination - mainly because I have too many "cool" shades by Lancome. Except for some sunscreen, two waterproof eyeliners, and one skin care item, that's it for Lancome. Most of my items are from the GWP.
Looks like this will be a pretty case.
