Carey Mulligan was even more doe-eyed than usual at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, where she wore lots of dramatic mascara and blue-gray smudged eyeliner. Champagne shimmer at the inner corners of her eyes brightened, all while setting off the intensely smoky palette. It was high contrast, but the smudging made it look soft and doll-like instead of harsh.
