@awesomepants Dressing, which included hair, took a few hours. Hair was taken care of both at night and in the morning. They didn't have dry cleaning fluids, so they obviously couldn't clean their hair the way we do today. If you were wealthy, you had maids that brushed your hair thoroughly morning and night, not only to distribute the oils of your hair, but to check for and get rid of any unsightly things that could take up in your hair like lice. Women, in those times, wore head dresses for a reason. All that oil and things like lice and dandruff made for icky, icky hair! You had to camouflage it somehow. Complex hairstyles and head dresses were the best ways! Thank goodness for shampoo and conditioner, huh? Happy, healthy hair (at least for me, anyway. I have super oily hair!)
