Samantha Cameron at the Royal Wedding: Love It or Leave It?

The wife of UK's prime minister, Samantha Cameron, looked lovely this morning as she made her way into the abbey in a green suit with a gold and red beaded necklace and a feathery, sparkle fascinator. Her makeup is simple and polished, typical of the political style we see in Washington DC. What do you think of her hair and makeup look for such a symbolic day?

I have a lot of issues with this look. For one thing, her hair slide thing is not a fascinator by any stretch. The lack of a hat comes off badly—it is in direct opposition to the official dress code. Women were expected to wear a hat. In addition, that necklace is awful and looks so cheap. When it comes to the dress, it really is a lovely colour, but the shape does little for her. Whatever you can say about her face (and an above anon said it enough for me), she does have a good, slender figure. This dress did little for it and just made her look very flat. So I obviously think this outfit was a cock-up, but SamCam was in good company in that regard at the wedding.

I just don't think it worked overall. The fascinator looked more like a jeweled barrette, and the necklace was just not right with that fascinator, or the neckline of the dress. I appreciate going for a more understated look, it just didn't quite work out.(And besides, the whole point of the big regal Royal Wedding Extravaganza is an opportunity to do something you mightn't otherwise do.)

A disaster, no style what so ever, looked like she had bought it a some cheap high street store.
