Valentine's Day is just around the corner and what better time to get dressed up in your cutest outfit and rock some seriously sexy and sultry makeup? Whether you are having a romantic candlelit dinner with your beau or club hopping with the girls, this makeup routine will have you looking irresistible!
Step 1: Prime
The first step is to prime your skin. You don't want your makeup sliding off during any seriously steamy moments, now do you? A good one to try is the Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer ($35).
Step 2: Perfect
Since we are going for a more sexy look, you want to make sure that your skin is flawless. Having a flawless base helps bring attention to the features that you want to show off. This long-wearing foundation by Estée Lauder ($67) will do just the trick!
Step 3: Conceal and Brighten
Now that you have your foundation on, it's time to go in with a concealer. If you have any blemishes, pinpoint concealing is a good method to try since you're only applying concealer to those small areas. This will help in preventing the "cakey" look on your face from too many creamy products layered on top of each other. If you have dark circles, just apply a thin layer of concealer or brightener to counteract the darkness. We want our eyes look wide open and awake.
Step 4: The Eyes
Now let's move onto the eyes. Since we are going to be rocking a gorgeous bold red lip we want to keep the eyes simple. Start off by applying a light, matte skin-tone shade all over the lid. Then apply a matte medium-brown hue into the crease. This will bring dimension to the eyes. Take a light champagne shade and apply it into the inner corners of your eyes. This will make them look more awake. Take a gel liner such as MAC Cosmetics Blacktrack Fluidline ($16) and thinly line the upper lash line. At the corner of your eye, extend your liner outwards and then connect it with the thinner line on the lash line. This will create a cat-eye shape that gives your eyes that sexy, feline look. Apply some mascara to your top and bottom lashes, and if you really want to play up your look, apply some outer lashes. These lift the outer corner of your eye upward and look killer with winged liner!
Step 5: Contour
Since we've applied foundation and concealer, our face has become very flat looking. To bring dimension back into the face, apply a bronzer such as the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer ($33). Take a contour brush and apply it to your cheekbones, temples, sides of the forehead, and jawline. This will slim your face while adding a nice sun-kissed look. This bronzer smells like chocolate, so your date will be sure to think you're delectable!
Step 6: Highlight
Now that we've added bronzer to slim the face, we want to add some highlight to make our features stand out. Take a highlighting powder such as NARS Albatross ($33) and apply it to the tops of your cheekbones, your nose, and the top of your upper lip. This is where the light would naturally hit and will make you appear radiant and healthy.
Step 7: Blush
Add some of that flush back into your face with a natural-looking blush. Make sure it is matte since we've already got some shimmer on our face — we don't want to go too overboard. MAC Cosmetics Well Dressed ($21) is a great pink blush that will add color to your cheeks but not distract from your red lip. Apply it onto your cheeks lightly for a natural look.
Step 8: Be Bold
Now for the fun part: the bold red lip. Outline and fill in your lips with a red lip liner. Be very precise with the step, and take your time. The lip liner will keep your lipstick from feathering, and it will wear more evenly throughout the night. Now take a matte red lipstick such as the cult favorite MAC Cosmetics Ruby Woo ($16) and apply it with a lip brush. This will ensure that you get an even application and don't overapply. Now you're ready to take the night by storm, and you're sure to get some looks coming your way with this daring, date night look!
