We already know that Solange Knowles is one brave woman. It takes a lot of guts to take your hair from well beyond shoulder length to practically shaved off. I think the ultracropped style is really working for her, though. Seeing that Solange is not a shy one when it comes to experimenting with her beauty options, leave it to the singer to make tonight's red carpet appearance a dramatic one. Heavily done-up eye makeup, matte bubble-gum-pink lips, and distinctive eyebrows all play a part in Solange's bold style. Are you mad about matte?

OK, I don't know why y'all love to talk shit about the way Solange looks. She cut her hair because she want to be free from the pressure that black women have among themselves and their hair. Being a single mom, taking care of her son, she has better things to do and spend the money on something other than being in a salon. I really LOVE this look it suits her better than spending over $45,000 a year to get your hair done with weaves and extensions. The lipstick...not my cup of tea, unless if it was glossy then it would really set it off. Other than that, the haters is what keeps her motivated. So keep on hating, bitches.

I really needed a nude or glossy lip for this look. Meanwhile, is it me of is the foundation quite light? I understand camera flashes and all but, the difference between her face and neck (let alone her scalp) is more than ideal. I understand why she went natural and I'm happy for her. However, as she said on the Oprah show, it's just a phase spurred by Chris Rock's movie and she'll be wearing a weave again in a few weeks. Unless she likes the way it grows out, then she'll keep it I pressume. It's an experiment. She's still not used to it. Heck, I couldn't imagine going commando on my head. Besides, I've met plenty of girls who went natural for the attention. They tried to shine way more than her.

I just think its because her lips are quite big but I love the colour with a simple eye, I think the lip colours saint germain. But let her be her own person.

BabyGirl - I thought the same thing! I like the hair; I think it looks just fine on her. HOWEVER; I always see this look of desperation for attention in her eyes and just the way she poses her face (can you really call this a smile? I don't think so). the eyes are gorgeous but the lipstick looks silly and is too much along with the daring hair and ugly earrings...

She is growing her natural hair...I'm thinking of doing the same thing but I'm afraid to go that short. How long do you think until it's at least to chin or shoulder length? A year or two? I don't like the lipstick otherwise she look really good on camera. She and her sister were cute sitting side by side and enjoying the show together :)

At least when I cut my hair off into a Caesar it looked good. this looks a mess and the lips are making it worse. This is what happens when you cry out for attention.
