Straight Hairstyle Trend For Fall 2012

Trade Your Beach Waves For Nearly Straight Strands This Fall

From Alexander Wang to Theyskens' Theory, effortlessly cool straight hair was all the rage on the Fall 2012 runways. To counteract the bulk of heavy sweaters and cold-weather jackets, stylists stripped down their models' hair and kept it straight and shiny. The most important part of getting this urban-chic look right is to give your hair a good prepping. Keep reading to see how.

At Rachel Roy's show (pictured), hair guru Ted Gibson slathered on his antifrizz Tame It Shine Lotion ($20) to models' hair before blow-drying. This lightweight formula allows for freedom of movement while packing a serious punch when it comes to shine. And since there's flat-ironing involved in this type of style, you'll want to make sure you spritz on a thermal protecting spray before your strands touch the hot plates. But don't go too crazy with the straightening; the look is all about encouraging hair to flow freely. Finally, for an extra dose of luminosity, lightly run a shine-enhancing product through your coiffure, like Moroccanoil ($15), to tame and protect.
