Thandie Newton at 2010 Costume Institute Gala

When wearing a plum gown with emerald accessories, going overboard on the cosmetics might be tempting, but Thandie Newton kept it tame. Instead of matchy-matchy sparkly green shadow or purple lipstick, the actress opted for a subtle pink makeup palette instead. A touch of winged-out black liner on the eyes gave her look a bit of edge, but without the excess.
