Trend Alert: Absentee Eye Shadow at the MTV Movie Awards

The beauty looks at the MTV Movie Awards last night were all similar. We saw lots of black-lined eyes, nude lips, and subdued cheeks. It's a very pretty look, but nothing that got my heart pounding. Something I did notice was the lack of eye shadow on the red carpet on Megan Fox, Ellen Page, and Liv Tyler.

Lauren Conrad was almost added to this list, but I took out my magnifying glass and spied a hint of taupe crease shadow and a little shimmer below the brow bone. What are your thoughts on eye shadow for dressy events? Do you wear a little, a lot or, skip it altogether?

I wear a lot of makeup i put on the dark eyeshadow then i put on liquid eyeliner than down at the bottom i put on dark black eyeliner than mascara and then i put on my foundation i'm very ivory colored so i use liquid foundation.i'm not gothic or anything but my look is like kristen stewarts!

I almost always wear some kind of eyeshadow, even if it's just a very nude shade for daytime. I just feel more polished and look more awake with it on.

I only wear eye shadow, eye liner, & mascara when I'm going out. For everyday wear I usually use mascara only or nothing at all :)

I recently wore no eyeshadow and I looked really pretty and natural. I just wore mascara and my eyes looked really fab.

I love my mac eyeshadow...but I started skipping shadow most of the time recently! I tend to wear makeup every day, and anything I can do to get a "cleaner face" is good! I am experimenting with different liners now, and have found a couple that are really great. The purple one from Sonia Kashuk at Target, and this sort of brownish blackish gold from mac. You don't even need the shadow!

I almost always wear eye shadow. It's probably my favorite type of makeup. Somedays when I'm in a hurry I'll just wear liner and mascara, but that doesn't happen that often.

this is what I do for every day - foundation, powder, blush, eyeliner (light - not dramatic), and mascara. for more fancy events, I might put on a smoky eye or a purple to accent my brown eyes. so, while I think they all look great, for me, it's actually the opposite..

I wear eyeshadow everyday! I usually use taupe or khaki colors for work or during the day, but when I go out at night I always do a smoky eye. I change the colors up once in awhile, I use purples, blues, greens. I love to play up my eyes.

mascara is always a must for me for everyday wear, other than that maybe a little natural looking shadow, and that's about it. BUT for a dressy event i will usually try to wear extra shadow, dark liner, and lots of mascara.

I'm more of a liner and mascara girl, but I do like eyeshadow. I sometimes wear fun colors when I go out at night, but I always use a light-hand. I'm just not into the garish colors smeared up to my brow bone look. Not for me.

I tend to wear lots, but that's because I like any excuse to play with colors :-D It does depend on the occasion and what I'm wearing, of course. But generally, more shadow = more fun!

I like using really natural eyeshadows like Stila Kitten when I do up my face. But most of the time, I'm a mascara-only girl.

I skip it most of the time, but sometimes, I use this really pale pink eyeshadow and it's barely there.

Eyeshadow is one of my favorite things to play with. Even if I don't feel like putting makeup on, putting MAC Shroom on my brow bones and my inner eye makes me look awake and my eyes brighter.
