Trend Alert: Cool-as-Ice Eye Shadow

Things got a little chilly — on the style tip, at least — at the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards. While the red carpet saw an abundance of cool-toned blue gowns, some actresses opted for cool-toned shadows. They ranged from subtle silvers, as seen on Emily Blunt, to bold blues à la Freida Pinto. One common theme? Regardless of whether the shadow has a matte or shimmery finish, this look dazzles best with complementary rosy- or pink-toned cheeks and lips.

Love it. As much as I enjoy warm browns and purples, it's nice to see something different!

I love using silver eyeshadow already. Especially as a contrasting colour in a smokey eye. I find that if I apply it lightly then it doesn't look too over the top and just provides a light shimmer.
