Trend Alert: Tousled Waves at the Teen Choice Awards

Last night at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles, the overall beauty look on the red carpet was casual chic. Although I'm sure the gals took a long time primping for the big night, they managed to create an effortless, age-appropriate effect.

One of the hottest hair styles of the evening was quintessential summertime sexy beach waves. Creating this carefree hairstyle is easy to achieve with either store-bought or homemade beauty products. What do you think of this look? Is it something you'd like to don for a special event?

love Miley's hair here, but I wouldn't use this look for a fancy event - for going to the beach or a party, okay, but I think even an event like this calls for something a little more formal - like Sophia Bush's curled mane...

I always try to do this when going out, but things don't go as planned. :( The curls go haywire and frizzy. Help?!

Same deal for me as marie-lee! I usually leave my hair wavy when I'm too lazy to straighten it. I rarely wear my hair wavy when I'm going out at night, though. For me, it's just a day time thing.

I have naturally wavy hair so mine kind of looks like this air dried. Its what my hair looks like when I couldn't be bothered doing anything with it...so def not for a big night out.

I have hair that is naturally curly...but quite easily straightens as well... to achieve a look similar to miley's....I wash my hair, condition (as always) and then leave in condition. I throw in some type of curling product and then i flip my hair upside down and braid it (yes the braid should be right on top of your head...it looks funny but it works!).....and tie the end of the braid and go to bed...in the morning...run a hair dryer through your braid making sure its all dry...and undo it.... you will have insanely cool waves...and use a straightener an straighten the top half, your bangs..etc....or use a curler and fix the kinky hairs. thats my little tidbit..hope it works as well as it does for me...:P

I have a naturally wavy hair so this look for me is pretty effortless. I let my hair air-dry and then I keep the waves intact by spraying in Fekkai Summer Hair Beach Waves and using my fingers to shape the waves. This product is a godsend. It doesn't make your hair sticky or stiff but rather keeps it really soft. I've since stopped straightening my hair and embraced its natural state.

Ooh I love the way Miley's hair looks. I'd like to do mine like that, but my hair is so frizzy so I have to blow it out first. Then I use a curling iron but it always ends up looking more curly than wavy :(

I like this look. My hair air dries kind of like this. If I want to make it look a little bit neater I take a larger curling iron and randomly curl a few pieces. I'm not sure why, but it just makes it look less messy to me.
