How-To: The Two-Minute Crescent Manicure
French tips may be timeless, but sometimes even the classics need a little shake-up, and that's where this fresh take on the manicure comes in. The crescent manicure has been around forever, but it's all over the runways and glossies this season, and it's one of the best ways to liven up a look without much time or effort. There are only three steps, and once you know a couple of tricks, application's a snap.

Awful!!
12 things- Usually a crescent manicure follows the natural half moon shape at the base of the nail; this version goes straight across, which doesn't look as good.
second point, these were my HS colors, and I still think they look horrid together. A bit too...Lakers
2They're right - it screams "without much time or effort."
3for this mani it is ESSENTIAL that it does not appear sloppy, which this does. either get this done at a salon with contrasting light and dark shades (this combo looks muddy due to how these colors function together), or get one of those looseleaf hole stickers to cover part of the nail while creating the crescent. this will give it a much neater look.
4i think that's a picture of my hand circa-1992
5reminds me of my high school, those were our colors
6I think crescent manicures are really cute; they are different and they remind me of the 30's. but those two colors together are awful...
7Great for a Lakers' Fans!
8I saw this in 17, same colors but purple on top & yellow cresents. I thought it looked cute..
9Oh Honey. This is a disaster. The finished product looks awful - the technique is wrong. As another comment said - it's traditionally a cresent - this looks like a 50/50 straight across deal. It looks messy and unprofessional. Lousy color combination...
There are plenty of blogs or youtube videos that will teach you how to do this properly.
10Really caught my eye! I love the part about painting outside the lines - this is so true anyway and makes for less wasted time trying to get things perfect - you have to do the cleanup anyway unless you are Ob/Com.
11ugliest thing I ever saw!!!!!!!
12That looks really terrible. No self-respecting nailie would go out in public with that mess on her tips.
13i have never seen such ugliness
14Ehh.
15I think the obvious problem with this is really the color choices and the neatness of the job.
No, it's not a crescent manicure, really, but the whole straight line thing could be great with darker shades--like a deep, deep plum or crimson base with an equally dark gunmetal could work out fantastically.
Maybe it's just me, maybe not.
ummm.. not that great. I wanted to share that I recently bought http://www.miginailart.com/ and it has allowed me to make really cool designs on my nails! I love it!!!
Anyway, check out my blog for some cool beauty giveaways!
16This really is horribly ugly.
