Peep (Show) Urban Decay's Newest Naked Palette
Ready to get Naked? Today, Urban Decay is releasing an all-matte companion palette to its wildly popular Naked and Naked2 palettes. Naked Basics ($27) is fully stocked with four new and exclusive shadow shades, as well as two existing favorites (Foxy and Walk of Shame). Looking for more low-sheen neutrals? This palette has them. And the shades can be built upon with the other Naked palettes to create a sexy eye look that Urban Decay is known for. Sometimes in order to achieve the perfect makeup look, you've got to go back to your basics. Luckily, with the latest from Urban Decay, basic is now anything but.
What We're Sweet on: Vampy Lip Color For Those Afraid of the Dark
If the thought of wearing a dark lipstick shade seems daunting, Urban Decay's Lip Envy ($17) is the training wheels of the vampy lip trend. Although the color appears inky in the bottle, this lip stain swipes on lips in a soft berry shade (think: raspberry, not blackberry). And the water-based color goes on sheer and matte, meaning you can build up to your desired depth. Packed with antioxidants like vitamin E and green tea to keep lips smooth and supple, the stain will stay on lips through hors d'oeuvres and midnight kisses. So stop being afraid, and take the dark lipstick trend on a test run. Next stop: oxblood.
What We're Sweet On: Lip Color That Really, Truly Doesn't Quit
Forget long wear lipstick and stains. Right now, we're wondering if we'll never need to reapply again. When we tried Urban Decay Super-Saturated lip color ($19), we expected it to be bright, but we didn't expect it to last through breakfast, lunch, and snacks seemingly unfazed. In fact, we just assumed it had worn off when we caught ourselves in the bathroom mirror and realized that it was still there and almost as vivid as it had been six hours before. It's almost like it was challenging us.
The secret to its invincibility appears to lie in its massive pigment payoff. We've been applying the orange and fuchsia shades (Punch Drunk and Crush, respectively) together to create a custom neon pink, then blotting and pressing it into our lips for a matte finish. And even after that, the stuff's so highly pigmented that it stays around for the rest of the day. It's much brighter (and longer lasting) than almost any lip stain we've tried.
The only downside is that the high opacity limits the color's versatility. You can blot it down or try to dilute it with gloss, but you'll be working a long time before you get any kind of sheer or subtle result. Still, we'd never knock anything with this much staying power, and if you love vibrant lip color, you may finally have met your match. We know we did.
Urban Decay Gets Even More Naked With a New Palette
How do you follow up on the best-selling eye shadow palette of all time? With a beautiful sequel, of course. Today, Urban Decay unveils Naked 2 ($50), the follow-up to the flattering Naked palette. Housed in a taupe tin case, these 12 neutral shadows can be used to create a natural look, a dramatic evening eye, or anything in between — it's that versatile. Get the first look at this palette in our video, then head to our Facebook page for some close-up photos.
What We're Sweet On: Urban Decay's Awesome Anniversary Palette
Rarely is eye shadow so mind-blowing that shelling out $55 for a palette feels like an absolute bargain, but then again not every eye shadow is even an eighth as stupendous as the Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eye Shadow Collection. It includes 15 edgy new shadow shades that push the envelope on color and intensity, besides being just plain gorgeous.
Deep End, Chase, and Deeper are all flat-out stunning shades that should be added to the brand's permanent collection ASAP, and other colors, such as Omen, Midnight Rodeo, and Evidence, are good candidates as well. Their staying power is excellent, and you'll almost certainly be the only one wearing these shades around. The windows to your soul will thank you for the awesome paint job.
We Tested 4 Eyelash Growth Serums to See If They Really Work
If we could all be born with naturally long, luscious eyelashes, then there wouldn't be a need for false lashes or products like Latisse. Luckily, you don't need a prescription to try out eyelash growth serums. Many brands, such as MAC, Urban Decay, RevitaLash, and SmartLash, offer up longer, thicker lashes without a trip to the dermatologist. The question is: do they work? We put all four brands to the test, so watch the video to see our results.
