At What Age Did You Start Wearing Makeup?

As a girl, I was obsessed with Tinkerbell Bo-Po nail polish. (Bo-Po stood for "Brush on, peel off," which accurately sums up its allure.) Other than Bo-Po, though, I didn't wear makeup until I was nearly out of high school. What about you? How old were you when you started to wear makeup?

i played around with my mom's lipstick drawer as a youngster but didn't get to buy my own makeup 'til i had my own money.

Around 16 I was allowed to really war makeup. I bought that Jane line sold at Rite Aide. I looked like a clown! I put on way too much foundation, I had no clue how to do eyeshadow and I had too much lipstick on! No I look back and cringe but thankfully with age and reading allure for a whole year and finding quality makeup products I look pretty damn good. lol

private catholic elementary school was not fond of makeup...or nailpolish...or jewelery. so when i hit HS i went a little heavy on the makeup but the eased off...nothing is worse than having gnarly acne as a kid and not being allowed to cover it

I wore too much black eyeliner in eighth grade, and I didn't start messing with face makeup, like liquid foundation and pressed powder and whatnot, until my junior year of high school.I still wore eyeshadow and mascara during school, but it was all girls - makeup wasn't a big thing, unless you were really snooty and "hot."

sarabel - My mom did that with me too! Clinique and everything. The lipstick was Tenderheart, a hair darker than my natural lip color, and the eyeshadow was a very sheer shimmery cocoa brown. But I felt grown up too, haha!

I was obsessed with Bonne Bell during my teenaged years. I didn't start getting into eyeliner and shadows and mascara until I was about 20. I'm still learning how to blend eyeshadows, apply liquid liner, and all that more sophisticated stuff! I've never been a heavy make-up kind of girl but it doesn't hurt to glam it up every now and then. :)

ohhhh i still remember going to the Clinique counter with my Mom and getting my almost lipstick and other bizarro things. i had no idea how to use any of it but i knew i was SO grown up.

I was in theater from age 11 to 19 and had to wear really thick stage makeup for shows, so I was turned off to makeup for a while. Aside from nail polish, which I've loved forever, I only got into makeup after I graduated from college (yea - seriously late bloomer). I didn't even get my eyebrows shaped for the first time until my second year in college. But, I also made a pact with myself that I wouldn't cover up or change anything about my face until I loved it as it was. (yea, I'm corny - I grew up in Berkeley)

I never really cared until about 8th grade and i wore a little. i still didn't care until high school. I remember seeing this younger girl who was just buuurrrning to wear makeup. apparently, her parents would only allow her to wear eyeshadow and lipstick. lots of brown, aka 90's Friends style up to the eyebrow, and she hadn't learned yet to pluck her brows. this poor girl inspired my love and need for mascara. i hope she finally rebelled and got some!

I was not allowed to wear heels until 14 and makeup until fifteen. Before then I was allowed to wear only some shades of light pink nail polish until about 12. But even then, NO BLACK!.

i started to use it a little bit at the end of middle school, more into high school. i used "more" junior and senior year and more than ever now that i'm in college. i love makeup =]

well when i was little i had that same nail polish. i started to wear lipstick in 6th grade (when i was 11) and more makeup in 9th grade (eyeshadow, foundation, cover up, mascara, powder). eyeliner was a college discovery. post-college i found the greatness that is primer and bronzer/blush.
