What's the Deal With Great Lash Mascara?

So, Maybelline Great Lash mascara. We always read about how it's so top-notch and how makeup artists can't live without it and how it's the be-all and end-all of mascaras. But honestly, I don't know what the fuss is about. Every time I try it, my eyelashes rival those of the late and great Tammy Faye Messner — not my favorite look.

But that's just me. Perhaps you've had a different experience? So true! I bought into the hype. Now I have it and I hate it. Good job on pointing this out Bella! The emperor has no mascara...errr....you know what I mean.

I hate this mascara. It smudges and I have dark rings under my eyes by mid-day. My old stand by is cover girl - no smudging. I also like Bad Gal.

This mascara sucks, I have it, and it doesnt do anything, other maybeline mascaras make my eyelashed way longer, This doesnt even make them long. I dont get why makeup artists are so obbsessed with it, it doesnt even work good

i actually adore the flirt! line at Kohl's....their thickening mascara is awesome! i couple it with the lengthening formula and the results are close to false lashes!!

I love this mascara. I think it does go off quite quickly though, but since you shouldn't keep your mascara for that long anyways, it doesn't bother me. I never get clumping and my lashes always look long and amazing.

yes i truly can say i hate this mascara as well, although i have friends who will use nothing else and their lashes look great. i guess it is a person to person thing.

I haaaaate it. Stubby brush, flaky product, runs too easily. Ugh.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love Great Lash. And, no matter how many mascaras I try (Dior to Fiberwig), I always go back to Maybelline. BUT, Maybelline Soft Lash is probably the best mascara I have ever used. It keeps your lashes full, curled, lengthy, and (most importantly) supple. You never feel like your lashes weigh more than your purse.

Hmm- I tried this a while back and I found it didnt do anything special. It was a bit blah, actually. Maybe I should try it again? But then, there are so many other mascaras on the market to get through.... =)

It has a good price/quality ratio...meaning it's a pretty good mascara considering you're just paying four bucks. That's the only good thing about Great Lash. Once you've tried a high-end expensive mascara like Lancome's Amplicils or YSL Effet Faux Cils, stuff like Great Lash can't even compare.

I bought a new tube of this about a week ago and it is VERY liquidy and clumpy. I'm going back to Lash Exact!!

I know it's been around for a while but I've never tried it. My favorites right now are Benefit's BADgal Lash and Too Faced's Lash Injection. I wear contacts at times and I haven't had any problems really.

When I saw this subject pop up, I had to respond. I heard all the hype about Great Lash and, since it was on sale, I bought some. When I was a teenager, everyone told me that Covergirl's Marathon Mascara was better than Great Lash, so I never actually have purchased Great Lash before now. I was really disappointed. The product doesn't seem to lenthen the lashes at all. There are so many great mascaras on the market right now, in various price ranges. For a low priced mascara, I think that Lash Blast offers better results.

My favorite of the drugstore brands is L'Oreal Voluminous. Makes my lashes look thicker w/o those annuying little fibers.

I have to agree with most everyone... I just wasn't impressed. I keep this as a standby in case something catastrophic happens to my others...lol. I don't have a favorite either. I have about 12 mascaras and use them all for different reasons. So you know this product isn't too great if it can't make it into the 12!haha

I've actually heard that a lot of makeup artists love this mascara because it's so liquidy - it applies really well over falsies, and isn't too over the top (which is why the rest of us hate it; it won't give drama on regular lashes). But I'm not a fan.

Crappy crappy crap crap crap. It flaked off really quickly and clumped like you wouldn't believe! I prefer Rimmel mascara but the one I'm using at the moment (Maybelline Define a Lash)is very good, clump free and nothing will remove it.

Ya I can't stand this mascara. I tried it after ready numerous times how all these different celebs swore by this mascara so I figured it had to be good, ughh wrong! It makes my eyelashes so clumpy it looked like I only had 3. I'd never use this ever again.

I completely disagree---I LOVE this mascara. I think it's the perfect mascara for definition and separation. I already have very long lashes that have a natural curl to them, so what I look for in a mascara is one that provides excellent definition. And I get that with Great Lash. I love the small brush and the formula never clumps on me. I'll always use this product...I use it in Royal Blue and it's definitely my HG mascara.
