What Do You Think of Designer Beauty Collaborations?

This beautifully packaged lipstick is Pixel Pink, the shade created for Thakoon's spring 2008 runway show. As of today, it's available from Lancôme, and in just about a month, the brand will release limited-edition glosses from designer Christopher Kane. Then, in late March, the Heatherette boys are launching a huge collection for MAC. And Avon has a cute Cynthia Rowley beauty line. Phew!

What do you think about fashion designers creating beauty products? And if you made the big cosmetic-executive decisions, who would you tap for the next designer collection?

Pucci did have a line - Guerlain did it last summer, I think. The colors and packaging were GORGEOUS, but I couldn't justify keeping the items, so back they went. It was a shame, too - they were GORGEOUS!

i'm with you on TGIF!! i like the idea but it has to be quality. i hear armani's beauty line is unbelievable. the packaging would sell me tho...could you imagine a PUCCI beauty line!? ugh. i'd buy the whole thing just to decorate my apartment with the boxes :o) xxoo to all of you bellas

I'm agreeing with the TGIF thing, McNasty. Anyway, I love the idea of designers collaborating. Generally the packaging is a little bit more special and they come up with some great colors. I love the Cynthia Rowley line Avon did. Cute colors, cute packaging, and I was happy with the quality of the product. I'm also loving the color of this lipstick. I'd definitely consider buying it if I liked it :)
