Recently, Yum and I were discussing the merits of facial exfoliators. Physical exfoliators use an abrasive ingredient like crushed seeds or nuts, sugar, or beads to exfoliate the skin. Chemical exfoliators rely on things like citric or alpha hydroxy acids to do the sloughing. Both kinds of exfoliators essentially do the same thing, but which type do you prefer?

No chemicals/poisons or the like for me especially botulism; it's too "Stepford Wife" and makes you looks like a 20 something statue.
Physical. I like to feel it actually working.
Physical. Chemical ones always irritate my skin more.
Physical. I use one by YSL which has sugar in it. The sugar is gentler on my skin because it dissolves & doesn't stretch my pores anymore than they already are!
Chemical. It leaves my skin much smoother in my opinion. My favorite are exfoliants the blend both physical and chemical.
Chemical. Physical exfoliators can cause capillary damage over time.
I agree with 'anon', a blend of both.
Right now I am using a physical exfoliator...I would use either - best of both worlds.
I prefer chemical, either salicylic acid or latic acid. Physical exfoliator tends to aggravate my skin and I think it is better for those with dry skin.
