What's Your Natural Hair and Eye Color?

My friend always figures you can tell if a blonde is a "bottle blonde" if her eyes are dark in color. "It's just not natural for a blonde to have dark eyes," she'll say. While I am not studied in the many variables of genetics, is my friend's theory on track? Perhaps you're a raven-haired beauty with icy blues or you're always getting complimented for the way your red-haired tresses play up your hazel eyes. Whatever the case, help me settle this discussion with my pal once and for all. When it comes to the hair and eye colors that you were born with, what hues make you who you are?

I have Red/Auburn hair and blue hazel eyes... My sister has blond hair and yellow/green eyes... And My mom has Jet black hair and gray/green eyes... lots of combos :)

i have dark brown curly hair and hazel eyes. out of the six people in my family, everyone but my sister has dark hair and hazel eyes (my sister has brown eyes)

I think tht Im very unique... there are probally 10% of people like me in the world.. Im french creole and black, with icy blue eye, and dark brown hair. It seem unrealistic, but Im not lieing!

To find out is somebody is truly a "natural" blonde, look for the 'stork bite'. Ask an experienced hairdresser what a 'stork bite' is, and you will always be able to find a natural blonde. With over 15 years of hairdressing and waxing experience, I can honestly say, a true "BLONDE" always has light eyes, and NEVER has superfluous pubic hair, or leg hair. You may have been a blonde when you were little, but don't let that fool you. Rarely does anyone European keep the same hair color after 6 years of age!

Absolutely false. I was born with natural medium blonde, but long days in the summer can turn me platinum; and I happen to have very dark brown eyes. It's a genetics thing. While blonde hair/blue eyes is the typical gene configuration, brown eyes/brown hair can have the separate alleles cross over, giving either brown hair/blue eyes or blonde hair/brown eyes. It is completely natural. Also, blue eyes are recessive to brown eyes.

First of all: genetically, eye color is completely independent of hair color. Just because a lot of blue eyed people have blond hair does not mean that a brown eyed person cannot be a natural blond. This is a textbook case of correlation =/= causation.Secondly: This idea does not take people of mixed race into account. We prove that genetics really is a lottery, and that common-sense beliefs can be all wrong. For example:My Mother--Thai, black hair, black eyes, brown skinMy Father--German, medium-blonde hair, light blue-green eyes, and fair skinNow, most people would say that my brother and I would come out with the same coloring as the mother, since all of her genes are dominant. But,Me & my brother--dark brown hair with a slight red tint in the sun, light golden-brown eyes, light golden skin. I've been told I look Lebanese, and everybody thinks my brother is Latin. Nobody guesses our actual mix!To make things more complicated, by boyfriend of 3 years is of Welsh descent. He has medium brown hair (but was born with white-blond hair), blue-green eyes, and light-medium skin of a Caucasian hue.There is a 50% chance our kids will have blue eyes: Bb+bb=Bb, Bb, bb, bb. And each of us have one blond parent, so there is a 25% chance that our kids will be blond. In summary, there is a distinct possibility that we could have a blond kid with brown eyes and an Asiatic face. And, moreover, I've seen people who look like this in real life!

The theory is untrue. I have super blonde/golden hair, and hazel eyes. My sister has even lighter hair (golden, almost white), with dark brown eyes. My brother has the same hair color as my sister, with blue/green eyes. My mom has blonde hair, and blue-gray eyes. We're Danish, so the blonde hair is natural (: As a family I guess we have all sorts of combinations :)

hii:) when i was younger i had super blonde strands, but now I have dirty blonde(gradating browns and blondes) with natural golden highlights. i also have dark, almost black, brown eyes and naturally tan skin that also tans well in summer...so im pretty sure your friend's statement is untrue byeee!

I was born with golden/sandy blonde hair that turns ashy dark blonde in the winter/fall, and I have blue eyes that change shades from day to day. Monday they'll be turquoise, Tuesday dark blue, Wednesday light grey, etc. It all depends on the weather (odd, I know) and what colors I'm wearing (which everyone knows changes how your eyes look). But much of my family is Irish and I have relatives with jet black hair and beautiful green, almost turquoise eyes and they're absolutely gorgeous. It really just all depends on your genes. You'll learn in a basic Biology class that if both parents have a recessive blue-eyed gene, there's a 1 in 4 chance the baby will have blue eyes. My mom has brown eyes but her grandmother had blue eyes so she had the gene somewhere in there, and mixed with my dad's blue eyes, viola! :D

I disagree as well. While I'm a typical brown hair, brown eyed girl, I have a friend with natural red hair and dark brown eyes (going against the red hair, green eyed standard) and I have another friend who has brown hair and naturally blue eyes. Hair and eye color are completely independent variables - it's all in genetics.

totally wrong. I'm a pale strawberry blond and my eyes are dark blue bordering on black.
